The fans have spoken! And they're not wrong. The magazine has improved each issue, and we're working hard to earn people's subscriptions.

Plus, honestly, it's fun to have David "Zeb" Cook and Monte Cook in the same issue. :)

Anybody who is on the fence about subscribing to Kobold Quarterly should absolutely do so, or at least give it a look by buying a copy.

If you regretted the loss of Dungeon and Dragon magazines (and I personally do not consider an online web page to be a "replacement") then KQ is for you.
I'm not so sure. There seems to be too many references already to unavailable/not easily available source material (isn't that "Zobeck" stuff related to that weird "patron" purchase model?).

The Zobeck material represents less than 10% of any issue. Wolfgang's column usually covers one page (out of about 65 that aren't advertising, that's pretty good). The last "Zobeck" article, Gangs of Zobeck, was really good stuff easily portable to any setting.

The "weird 'patron' purchase model" is what constitutes Open Design. It's pay to play supplements. You pay, you get a voice in in the design, and it's pretty exclusive. KQ is pretty separate. Both are great. (Yes, I'm biased.)

And really you aren't missing that much Zobeck info. It's like reading an article on Greyhawk when the GDQ series was not easily available.

Cool! Open Design is now "award-winning"! (Having just won the Diana Jones award.) I hope that distinguishes it suitably from KQ, both of which I enjoy immensely, but which really are different types of products.

I am immensely chuffed to have won the Diana Jones Award, and will be displaying it prominently at booth 1921. Open Design has been getting a lot of great attention at the show, and the first convention playtest went rather well.

And hey, I hope KQ becomes award-winning as well someday!
