Koboldnomicon - Tamarin Kobolds

Psion

Adventurer
I have a player who wants to play a Tamarin Kobold from Koboldnomicon.

However, I don't own this book. Does someone want to give me the skinny on what they are? Is the race balanced? Or are there any hidden gotchas?

I heard mention of it in a couple of reviews, but no analysis.

Monkey Kobolds...seriously

I had two pcs play them,... now keep in mind this was an all Kobold campaign. They didn't appear to be overbalanced. a slight increase in dex and an exotic weapon profiency.

Considering normal kobolds are the only race in the MM to tell you to LOWER the CR of NPCs who are kobolds, I don't think you have to worry about variant kobolds. :)

After pun-pun, I never take these things for granted. ;)

No, the problem there is a retarded monster ability that should never be put in players hands.

(Corollary: The people who complain about new splat books greatly increasing the power of druid/cleric spell lists, or the power of wildshape/polymorph just need to learn to say no)

Additionally pun-pun requires a very generous interpretation of a specific rule to even work in the first place, in addition to said stupid monster ability.

Wow, Psion - first it's dragon shaman, and now tamarin kobolds?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that your players walk all over you? :p

Man, put your foot down! Show 'em who's boss. At the very least, make them choose stuff in products that you at least own!
