Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

The thug fighting against Captain Camburn shifts down towards the Butcher. He steps inside the man's profane aura and is filled with an intense desire to kill. He screams and attacks the captain, but Camburn easily avoids the sword strike.

Up the side street, the Bluffside Regular steps towards the fight, reloads her crossbow, and fires. The bolt hits the tree, not the Loyalist she was aiming for.

Meanwhile, Falen is having his own issues. The enchanter is a tough opponent.

"I was saving this for your Sectarian friend," she says. "But, I guess you will do."

She casts another ray spell, this time on the defensive. Her movements don't allow for Falen to strike. A strange rays blasts out from her hand. It resound with the sound of 'Uhhhhh' and when it hits Falen, he can feel his mind diminish. Then, she casts again, swiftly, defensively. She begins to shimmer and then she tumbles away from the half-hobgoblin unseen seer in a flash. She is soon 30 feet away from him.

She comes up holding her blade ready and a vicious look in her eyes. She glances towards her left and notes the presence of the half-orc Elite. It doesn't seem to shake her confidence at all. She motions wit her hand for Falen to come at her. Falen notes she has a potion bottle in her hand.

Breva starts knocking another arrow, but that is not where his strength lies. And the monster behind is getting closer. He puts the bow away and runs forward toward the fighting. As he rushes past the house, he notices enchantress on the right and swerves toward her. His armor prevents him from more than entering the side street, but still, he is now in position to attack either her or The Butcher in the following seconds.

Inside the Shop:
Sobla looks at Tuck with a big toothy grin. Mutt barks at him happily. The kobold urban ranger is happy to see them both, but he's also worried that they are here. He walks over to Mutt while taking out one of the potions they captured. While standing on the back of the dying Loyalist, Tuck uncorks the potion and drinks downs the healing liquid inside. The worst of his wounds are healed.

Mutt greets his packmate with a big lick on the face and a nuzzle. The big dog doesn't like being separated from Tuck.

"Are you okay?" Sobla asks

Tuck nods. She really shouldn't be here. It is too dangerous for her.

OOC: @JustinCase, I'll leave anything you want Tuck to say to Mutt and Sobla up to you. I just want to move on with the combat.
EDIT: Tuck was able to move without worrying about taking an AoO from the thug on the other side of the half-open window and the open door. He had cover.

Tuck resists telling Sobla she shouldn't be here; there's no point in wasting his breath. Instead, he talks her through what he wants her to do, while drinking his potion and replacing his sword with his trusted crossbow.

"Barricade and trap the hatch in the other room, but be careful they don't catch you. Keep close to me and Mutt. Use this," and he hands her his hand crossbow.

"Only use the dagger if there's no other choice. We survive by being smart."

The last part is something kobolds often tell each other; in a world where most people are bigger and stronger, the reptilians must rely on wits, stealth and cunning. And Tuck intends to use the tricks his people know better than any.

OOC: ScottDeWar_jr's written text from Discord.

Taking an account of his condition, Vincenzo addresses his allies in the room with him, "Akos, Tuck, do either of you have the ability to neutral the effects of poison? I was struck by a poisoned quarrel."

He takes a cure potion from his belt pouch and downs the liquid.

"Sorry, no," Tuck answers. "I've got another healing potion and a drink to make your skin tough, but that's it."

Looking around the shop, the urban ranger is trying to formulate a plan to join up with the others instead of fighting in small groups. Together they are stronger.

OOC: HP 43 out of 50

While keeping her focus on Falen, the enchanter notes the arrival of the paladin. She shifts her stance to make sure she is prepared for the paladin's next move. 'He was not supposed to be here', she thinks.

Candle Street:
Teresa quickly realizes that the Elite in front of her is too much for her to handle on her own. Her initial rage has gotten her into trouble. She stabs at him with her short sword but Burchard easily avoids her blade. She tumbles away from the man, but tries an initial flourish which gives her away.

"Oh no you don't," Burchard slashes out with his longsword and cuts deep wound in the woman's back as she flips away.

She nearly loses her balance, but manages to stay on her feet. She is soon standing over the dead body one of the female mercenaries. She grimaces and tries to keep her rage under control.

Sobla nods. She is happy that he isn't trying to send her away. "We survive by being smart."

She get's down off of Mutt and takes Tuck's hand crossbow.

In the distance, the approaching creature roars again. Everyone in the shop can hear the beast's roars clearly. Sobla's hands begin to shake. Mutt growls. The big dog is on edge.

"Whatever that thing is, it sounds big," Vinny says.

Sobla nods. "It is... I saw it," her hands shake a bit. "But, only from a distance. Your human knight friend, outside, he was a lot closer to it than me." She scrambles up onto the counter and stretches her arms into the air for effect. "It! Was. Huge!"

"How big?"
Vinny asks. He's glad to hear that Breva has joined the fight.

"Bigger than Mutt. Bigger than your big friend, the Tall Knight, as the people are calling him. Way bigger than him. Twice as big. But wasn't tall. It was a long, ugly thing. So many heads. It breathed fire. And tentacles, oh so many tentacles." She gulps. "I saw it. It... it changed. It became something else. A mass of legs and heads and tentacles. It was frightening."

"It sounds like you got close enough," Vinny replies.

Sobla shakes her head. "No, I swear! I didn't go near it!" She looks at Tuck. "So big... Unca Tuck, I won't fight it. It's way to stong for me. Maybe... maybe even for you. We, we should run... run away and hide. We survive by being smart."

With the situation under control, Akos returns to the window and sends a blast of hot air toward fleeing Teresa, almost catching an adjacent thug in it.

"I cannot heal the poison right now, I need to prepare spells. I could remove some tiredness or nausea if you feel it from the effects, but not the poison itself."

"We need to clear the space for allies to all get together for the monster. And I have a spell to protect us from the fire. But we need to be close. Breva is there, I can see him through the window, let's join with the guards outside and push enemies together. I can risk dispelling their effects once they are together."

Free: 5' step back to the window
Standard: Eldritch chain blast vs Teresa; damage; attack vs Thug above her: 1D20+7 = [19]+7 = 26; 3D6+4 = [2, 1, 3]+4 = 10; 1D20+7 = [4]+7 = 11 hopefully hit for 10 against Teresa, miss vs Thug (touch AC 11?)

On the Street:
The Mercenary captain hold his position for a few more seconds.

Custodio takes advantage of some distance to reach through the window and cast a healing spell on the Loremaster.

Down the street, the halberd-wielding guard sighs in relief as the doppelganger goes down. He is dead on his feet. He drops his weapon, falls to his hands and knees and gives up his last meal onto the street. The poison in his system makes him feel like he is burning alive. He shudders.

"N-no more," he says. "I can... do no... more."

Oakfirst looks at the man. He knows there is no point in trying to rally the fellow. It's about keeping him alive. "Loremaster, if you can hear me, a soldier needs your gift!"

End of Round 11

Start of Round 12
Imninon waits just moments to strike. He moves to put himself in between Big Tim and Captain Camburn. He lashes out with his sword and Tim just barely gets his shield up to block the strike. The mercenary tries to pivot and attack the captain as well, but he stumbles and his grip falters. It is a simple matter for Tim to hits the mna's hand with his shield. The blade falls to the ground at the mercenary's feet... leaving him only with his shield.

"What?" Imninon is shocked by his bad luck.

Captain Camburn laughs.

The Butcher tries to use the distraction to get in close to Tim and attack. He tumbles with grace and comes up swinging his sword, but his swing is... awkward. Tim brings his shield around and easily blocks the sword strike. The blade bounces off Rizvan and slips out of the Loyalist's hand. The blade skitters away.

"Well, that was unfortunate," the man says. He remains dead calm even though he now only has a dagger in his other hand. Tim can see that the man does have spiked gauntlets, so he is still a threat.

Captain Camburn laughter resounds over the battlefield.

The Loyalist that was standing next to Imninon also steps towards Tim and attacks. His sword swing is better than the Butcher's, but Tim still manages to block the blade. Tim notices that the man's eyes are glazed over a blackened. The man seems to be in a deadly trance. There is no trace of fear in the man.

Trusting Sobla to fend for herself for a short moment, Tuck moves to the door. Standing over the two unconscious assailants, the kobold looks outside to survey the scene.

The bright sunlight dazzles him somewhat; it always does after some time indoors. But not far away he can see Tim and several allies, facing off against those fanatic Loyalists and their hired thugs.

And in the middle… could that be the infamous Butcher?

Without thinking too long, the urban ranger fires his crossbow once, twice, thrice, before calling out, ”Mutt, follow me!”
