L4W Discussion Thread III

I'm starting my vacation to day. Until September 7th, my post might be sporadic, so to all my DM, feel free to NPC my characters.

Only what's listed here. In mid-September, a bunch more is going in, which is a bit complicated, but the basic list is here (although there were a couple more things brought up for discussion since I posted that).

Thought,

Kamotz has a house, in Bacarte, close to The Drowned Man. I haven't spent anything on it, and there is no mechanical value I am currently getting out of it. Just a place for me to send Kamotz to get changed and bathed. (much to Magnus' ire.)

If I start investing GP in putting things in that house. Like a chest, some fine clothes, a cart and horse. Extra weapons, a bed, teleportation circle... Can I use their mechanical value?

Could I begin using Kamotz' house as a base during adventures?

I would think that spending the money or doing the requisite rituals at the proper level, would allow Kamotz to benefit from the house. But I also can see where paying for the house itself may be necessary...

thoughts, concerns?

But I also can see where paying for the house itself may be necessary...

Well, I would point out that no PCs pay rent. So I don't see why you'd need to pay for a house as long as it's a modest affairs.

If it's a big manor with guards, that's something else.

I have been known to bribe servants...

But that won't be until later levels, when certain rituals open up.

Ok, what about breaking into Kamotz house, could another PC do it? NPC?

If a fire breaks out in Bacarte, does Kamotz need to worry?

I'm asking, because that would mean extra precautions and measures would be needed.

By paragon tier, which some people are almost half way, stables and bases are pretty important. With the new lair items, even more so!

Could I start a thread and title Kamotz House, Placing items there with a description? Would other PC's be able to stop by and leave notes/break and enter/arrest Kamotz IC in the thread?

That sounds like fun!

Where is this kind of thing supposed to go?

Lair items? What are those?

As for houses, I don't necessarily see a problem with a PC having a basic house, even a nice one, without paying. As a DM, I would consider it well within bounds to attack the PC there, burn it down, or plant false evidence there, or whatever, just as I'd feel free to mess with NPCs defined in their backgrounds.

I'd assume that the house was protected by normal means, such as mundane locks, bars on the shutters, etc... Magical or really superior protections, or powerful guards, I'd expect a PC to pay for.
