Is Matt Colville known for being terse?

Anyway, the last time I wrote a lightning spell, it looked like this:

Lightning 1
Range: close
Target: single
D/M: +4/no
Effect: the target takes d8 physical damage from electricity.
Half: (P) no effect.

That was the whole thing. If it needed any more details, it was up to the caster/player to add them. The MCDM book could save space by standardizing some things, sort of like what @ichabod was getting at. But I don't watch/read Colville because I'm expecting something short and to the point.
