Large red dragon mini with only 5 fire resist...

That is silly. If a blue dragon can hurt another blue dragon with its breath weapon it also mean that it will hurt itself with its breath weapon.
Only if you can target your own square with a line effect.

I would rather have the possibility of a Blue Dragon hitting itself with its Lightning breath, then not having them be able to affect other blue dragons with that lightning breath.

I dont wisepsread immunities running around like what was in 3.5 It just seemed like everything was immune to something. I want more things affecting more things. You can take off some of the damage and have it weaker, but overall it should still affect them for the most part.

I dont like blanket things that cause something to not take damage at all. This should be very rare in my opinion.

But its not the water which hurts you but the blast/force of impact. Replace the water with any other (non harmful) liquid and you still have the same effect.
We're also not taking about some candle light or camp fire, but about the breath of a dragon or a fireball - that's a lot closer to being exposed to a blast of water then putting your hand in a bucket of water.

Similarly, it's silly that people can hurt each other with punches, because then they would hurt themselves with them, as well.

If it's stupid enough to hit itself with it's own breath weapon, then it deserves to get hurt.

Ugh. Semantics.

"It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop when you hit the ground."

You can also put the hand into the ocean and nothing would happen.
No matter how you turn it humans are immune to water itself. Only when water exerts enough force/pressure or is ingested in large quantities it becomes dangerous, but in this cases it isn't really the water which is dangerous.

A lightning bolt coming out of ones mouth certainly counts as being hit. So every time the blue dragon would use its breath weapon it would fry its head.

I disagree, unless spitting counts as being spit upon, or shooting a bullet counts as being shot.

edit: man, this simulationist thinking really *is* annoying. Now I remember why I gave it up.

edit 2: A supernatural ability is a supernatural ability---so a dragon no more singes his mouth than a sorcerer singes his fingers. It's not like their bellies are full of lightning, fire, or acid.

Lets ask it that way. If spit would be dangerous to humans, would you still live even though no one did spit upon you? Certainly not as your entire mouth is filled with that stuff.
