Well you figure even though it is more adult-oriented then the older stuff, the studios know people will still bring the kids in droves to see it. As such, a 4-5 hour movie isn't the best thing for a audience full of kids.

WTF? Why not just make it a double length movie? It worked for Kingdom of Heaven.
You pay once for a double-length film.

You pay twice for two-part films.

Profitable, at least for the production studios. Also for theaters (you'll have to pay twice for popcorns).

I've no problem with it. It smacks of milking the cow for all it's worth to be sure, but I'll be still be catching the last part of Harry's journey when it comes to the big screen.

Course all I really care for is that Emma Watson will be of legal age by the time this comes out. :D

I am still hoping that Guillermo Del Toro will be signed to direct it... Or already has, since that would be amazing :D

If he does it, we got his (some definite, some hopeful)...

-Hellboy II
-Harry Potter
-Frankenstein
-Dracula
-Death
-The Wolf Man
-At the Mountains of Madness

To look forward too :D

For this last film in the series, I'm not surprised that they would actually make two films... but this was also the plan for Goblet of Fire (two films for one book to be released a few months apart) and in the end they backed out of that idea (why, I have absolutely no idea!).

Agreed that it might smack of milking the cow, but as long as it's really well done, I won't mind being there for both parts (along with double popcorn).

Also this gives another year to merchandicing. Since there are no more books or films after this, this gives two boosts to all the licensed products out there.

I'm not optimistic, particularly since I thought they could have cut a huge swath from the middle of the book. Making it two movies makes me suspect that the "camping trip that never ends" will be a major part of the movie.
