I am showing my last post as having occurred on December 31, 1969 -- when I was four years old. Hmm, I was a bit of a child prodigy at age four. Of course, using the TARDIS to deliver a PC to my younger self helped a lot!

That happens when a database date field is set to -1. Databases encode dates as the amount of time that has lapsed from the epoch, which is Midnight GMT, January 1, 1970. Unix also uses this system.

Why they chose that particular time, I don't know.

That's also the source of the name of one of the characters in the Matrix. The supporting characters - Cypher, Switch, Mouse, Epoch - were all computer terms.

Man, I remember 1969. Watching grainy pictures of Neil Armstrong bouncing on the moon. Listening to my older brother's Steppenwolf records. I think that was the year we moved, when I was in second grade...
