So I'm taking my girlfriend and her mother shopping at the mall the other day. They run into Kohl's and I wander aimlessly. Lo and behold, Suncoast is selling the last of their Archfiends and Giants pack at 25% off. Being bored, I buy the last pack of each.

Lizardfolk Rogue... Good. I like monsters.
Bugbear Footpad... Once again, thumbs up.
Orc Brute.... Well, I have enough orcs to be honest, but hey, beats a milita
Zombie... I like this sculpt. Looks demented.
Aramil, Sor 3... Ugh. Bad sculpt and it's a damn PC style figure.
King Snurre... Already have one, but what the heck, I'll paint one a little different and have a whole new figure.

Sword of Glory... Not my style but he does use a two-bladed sword.
Warforged Fighter...Good. I like the warforged.

Nightwalker: Okay, this is my 3rd figure of this thing. I'm thinking of painting two fo them gray and saying that they're pillars or something. Whath ave other people done with 'em?

Aspect of Orcus: Excellent! I love this guy.

Gravehound: Good. More monsters.

Moon Elf Fighter: Now it's a Fighter 9 and I'm sure that it's tough, but who cares? another PC style figure... look, a sword and shield!

Dalelands Militia: Ugh...kill it... kill it!
Sage: Ditto
Ragnara, Pyshic Warrior: Having a weapon of crystal is good but otherwise...

Wereboar Hybrd Form: After readign Paradigm's book on lycnahtropes, these suckers are always welcomed at my table.

Snig the Axe: If I didn't have three of them, this would be an interesting figure.

I pray that when they do the Giants thing again with the Huge Figures, that we do not see incredibly stupid creatures like the Nightwalker or T-Rex. Please let it be something that Gms may actually use in some numbers.

The good news is that for the next Huge set, the designers have said that they'll change the rarity system so we don't end up with so many of the "uncommon" huges.

I do advise using Fiendish TRexes as a new type of demon, though. :)

One interesting thing about my campaigns is that I've noticed at how often the PCs run into NPCs as villains. All those PC-style figures thus get used more often than not!

Cheers!

I am going to repaint mine as Fire Elementals.

Yeah I have 4 Nightwalkers and 4 T-Rexs I havent even taken out of the bags yet. :\

But I get a case of Aberrations from my wife for Christmas !!! :D

I actually went out of my way to get 4 Nightwalkers, buying them cheap on Ebay (of course, the next packs I bought had two more so now I've got 6!). Why you ask? Because 4 work well as those giant statue/pillars that hold up the ceiling in ancient temples and such. I know they'll never be used as is.

So do folks buy metal miniatures for their D&D games still?

But of course! Judging by what painted metal figures are selling for these days I would say a lot of people are still using tin on the table.

I think from my perspective that the new D&D figures have helped increase sales of finely painted figures. I'm not sure whether they have affected overall sales, but I do not think so from what I see on other forums. As D&D miniatures become more and more common at the table - more people are embracing miniatures as part of their games. In the long run that's got to be good for all miniature manufacturers!
