Latin Translation, Please!

If Deus Ex Machina is "God from the Machine" what would the equivalent be for saying "God to the Machine"?

To answer that, I'd need a good grasp of latin grammar - or at least a basic understanding

That's "God as machine" or several other things that would be difficult to interpret.

"God to the machine" could be several things, depending on what you mean exactly. If it's like a gift, Deus machinae. If it's more like motion, Deus ad machinam.

"To" is heavily overloaded in English, so more context is necessary to translate it.

If you're trying to express the to-from contrast in English, it doesn't work exactly, since "ex" doesn't really mean "away from." It's more like "out from." The idea was that in an ancient play, a god would come from out of the chariot (the machine) and wrap up the loose ends of the plot. The to-from contrast in Latin is ad-ab. The opposite of ex is in so Deus in machinam, "God into the machine." A god that's just sitting around in the machine is Deus in machina, "God in[side] the machine."

Then it depends . If it means God is inside the machine, it's "Deus in machina". If God is outside and then goes inside the machine, it's "Deus in machinam".

EDIT : Ooops. Sorry. had been solved already. I'm silly. HEH but I WAS right... nice to see my Latin ain't TOTALLY rusted.

I'm very curious -- why are you asking?

This thread has got me thinking of two adventure seeds:

The characters have to get "God in the Machine" for a prophecy to be
fulfilled. 500 yrs in the future, the BGG and the BBEG would be
at each others throats in a mountain when an earthquake suddenly
uncovers a Staff of Power and the BGG wins the day. The characters
in their present have to bring the Staff of Power to the mountains.

The characters have to get "God in[to] the Machine." In the middle of
a fight with the BBEG, a "Deus ex Machina" happens for the BBEG and
the characters have to undo it.

I had an idea for a short story, and my incomplete grasp of Latin was preventing me from coming up with a proper title.

It would also be a good title for a game segment (as you suggest) but my idea is a little different. If I get something finished, I might post it on the Story Hour thread.
