Legends of Excalibur: Arthurian Adventures

Well, I bought this today. Haven't read the whole thing yet, but I like what I've read so far. One quick question.

On the spell points table, caster level 18 goes up by 17, yet 19 and 20 only go up by 16 each. I'm assuming that this is a typo. If so, what should the proper progression be? It would appear, going from the prior progression, that 19 should also be 17 and 20 21.

The table is incorrect- you should receive 17 spell points at 19th level (for a total of 164), and then 19 at 20th level (for a total of 183).

Nice spot and glad you're enjoying it :)

I've gone through most of the book now, and really like what I see. However, and I may be blind and have missed it, but what nationalities and languages are available?

If this isn't the forum for posting errors or corrections, please point me in the right direction. {And I'm using the printer friendly version for all my posts}

Anyway, Skald Inspire Courage ability. The descriptive text says

At 8th level, and every 6 skald levels thereafter, this bonus increases by 1 (+2 at 8th, +3 at 14th and +4 at 20th).

However, the table shows the bumps every 4th level, starting at 4th (1st, 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th).

Which is correct?

==========

Skald Inspire Courage and Precision Cadence. All the other abilities dependent upon a Perform skill has the minimum 3 ranks higher than the level the ability is given. However, these two have minimums of 2 ranks higher than the class level granted (3 and 15 respectively, instead of 4 and 16 for being granted at 1st and 13th). Just want to make sure that this was on purpose since Marching Cadence, Instill Greatness and Inspire Heroics have Perform minimums 3 ranks higher than level given.

Geez so many... this is why I try never to sleep... in order...

1) there is a list of nationalities available after the bloodlines. I decided not to deal with languages because in the tales there is a definite "star trek" vibe working, where everyone can talk to everyone. If you wanted to include languages, I would still give everyone a national tongue in addition to "common", which seems to be English.

2. The table is correct, the descriptive text is incorrect.

3. The numbers listed are correct. Some of those abilities are pulled from the SRD, and some are new. But the perform ranks listed are correct.

4. There is no table for randomly rolling a fate, and there never was. For some reason, I cannot get that reference out of the game completely. I'll try again :)

Thanks for the comments and interest in the game. :)

I wasn't sure, that's why I asked.

No problem. I like Arthurian stuff, and snagged this as soon as I heard about it...well, not 'as soon as', I think I waited an hour or two. ;)

Power Surge feat

I have a question on this feat. It says
You may tap an additional source of power for recovering spell points. So a druid could tap ley lines in addition to tapping henges, gaining the best recovery modifier when recovering spell ponts.
Does this mean that each casting class can choose one of the sources in their tables? So, using the Druid example, henges give them +2, but ley lines give a +1. By choosing ley lines, that becomes +2? What about neutral energy, weak energy and The Wasteland; do they get +2 from these as well? Further, what about other classes power sources, can they choose them or must they stay within their own table?

Each class has its own table for spell point recovery, as noted in the class descriptions, and then noted again in the tables.

The feat you're referring to lets you pick a different source in addition to the one you currently have, and go by whatever is the best for you at that time.

So a hermit, normally at a disadvantage in a city, could take the feat and use the priest table, as well as the hermit table.

In a city, he could seek out holy ground to recover his spells faster.

In the wilderness he could use the hermit's ability when no temples were nearby.

It's worth mentioning, A spellcaster could get the same benefit by multi-classing, taking a level in hermit and a level in priest. The feat just lets him do it without multiclassing.

By multiclassing the spellcaster saves the feat, but he does not get as many spell points (generally) as if he stayed in his current class.

This is the way a lot of 3E feats work. As an example a mage could take Armor Proficiency (light) or he could take a level in fighter.
