Leif's 1E AD&D Game OOC

Rider

Elydd approaches cautiously to a position ten yards outside of where the natural foliage begins to provide significant cover and calls to the rider. The rider slumps still further in his saddle, mutters something unintelligible, but makes no further response.

Ellydd turns to look at his companions behind him.

Quietly, <in elvish>"Be ready, Rosco [@howandwhy99]. I am bound to aid those within Elenestra's fold. But I must admit, this seems unusual."

Directing his address, again to the slumping rider, "Be at ease, friend. The blessings of Ehlonna are upon me. You have nothing to fear. You are safe now."

Ellydd casts Speak with Animals: Horses. "Goodly steed, bring your rider out to us so we can help him. I act with Ehlonna's blessings, no harm shall come to you."

He edges Ariil toward the tree/brush line another 5 yards.

Rosco slides off from behind Ellydd and unsheathes his longsword. With his eyes on the strange rider Rosco circles around him to the left. He's trying to get a good look at what he's doing under cover, whether it be magic, convulsing, arguing with himself, or whatever. When he moves behind a tree he glances up and all around surveying the area for anyone else who might be hiding.

Rider

[sblock=Elydd]The horse shakes his head to indicate a negative, snorts, and says something obscene to equine sensibilities.[/sblock]

[sblock=Rosco]Roll a saving throw vs. paralyzation, please, to simulate the sensory skill checks that are not a part of 1E AD&D, and either a save vs. petrification to simulate the stealth, or if you have thieving abilities (which I don't believe to be the case) make a Move Silently check.[/sblock]

Ellydd says <in horse, I suppose> "Hear, now. I see no reason for vulgarity. Is there some reason you can not? Are you trapped? I've some lovely fresh feed here if you will bring your rider out. I may attend him and you can have a nice graze."

[sblock=Rosco]As far as you can tell, the man seems to be truly injured in some manner. Looking around more carefully, you see that the small copse of trees appears to be casting a few too many shadows in the bright sunlight. Perhaps that's not the best way to say it. Anyway, Rosco gets a funny feeling that everything is not as it seems.[/sblock]

[sblock=Elydd]The horse snorts in reply, "Don't need reason. Only one two-legs I listen to, and you not him."[/sblock]

Ellydd says to his own mount, "Well. He is a rude one isn't he."

"But very well."
After turning back to the others who had been holding back and giving them a shrug, Ellydd edges Ariil toward the treeline and will enter to get to the "rider in distress" and his unpleasant mount.

Leif's "County of Urnst" Greyhawk Gamma Game [AD&D 1E] [ IC 01]

Girion gracefully steps out of the saddle, keeping his bow at the ready. He then slips into the woods around the clearing to the right, meaning to cover Elydd as the priest assists the wounded man, and also to scout for possible ambushers.

((OOC: I am assuming use of the surprise mechanics for rangers to handle the stealth. Let me know otherwise, boss!))
