Leif's All-Eladrin DweomerFall Saga [4E, IC01]

Sulannus tilted her head slightly to one side, weighing his words.

"What service do you need?" she asked cagily. Only a fool asked a boon without knowing its price...and only a fool set a price without knowing the job. Even between eladrin. Especially among them.

In Shine - Gleithendale the Resonant

"The wise will ever beware, of course, but the errand of which I speak is not so geat a challenge as the one you undertake by opposing Archangault the Elusive. Neither is it one to be undertaken by the hasty or the unprepared. You see, you are not the only ones plagued by a dragon. Myself, I have not achieved your potency of enemies however -- mine is more of an annoyance. No, more than that, really, but not so dire as the wyrm you oppose. His hue is more cyan, and his merely singular name is Twylarq. Perhaps he intends to add further appellations as he grows ever older, I'm sure I know not. I do hope that if he has such plans they are cut horribly short and left forever unfulfilled. Care to make yourselves of assistance?"

"I suppose if we survive another encounter with Archangault the Elusive we'll be experts in the dispatching of dragons. We should be able to bring Twylarq the Mildly Annoying to heel for you," suggests Quarion with perhaps more bravado than is really healthy. "At the very least he'll be known as Twylarq the Blue for more than his hue when we get done with him."

"Actually, I was thinking that Twylarq might make a nice, umm, 'warm-up' if you will, for your death match with Archangault the Elusive. Also, I would like to see this task completed, and if you engage Twylarq after Archangault the Elusive, well, hmmm -- let's just say that I insist that you do this for me first, before I bestow upon you the devices you request to help you with your ultimate quest."

Galin

"We will have to trust your wisdom that fighting a dragonkind that prefers deserts and spews lightning will be a good training to fight an aquatic acid spewer."

Galin says smirkingly with a light bow.

I think dragon knowledge is still arcana and Galin got some ranks...

Gleithendale looks thoroughly nonplussed at Galin's words, "Ummm, yesss, quite. Hmm, well, it would be of benefit to me...."

Sulannus, after a moment of shock, decides to ignore the vile slander about fools and such, and focuses on the moment.

"So your proposal is that we face a dragon on your behalf, in exchange for your aid in facing our dragon," she muses. "Dragons are never simple, easy foes, even when young. Before we agree, I'd like more detail about what you can offer us in addition to a simple ritual scroll."

"I had not planned to slay even one dragon today much less two. This is a most disquieting turn of events. I must agree with my siblings, if you wish us to abandon our current quest in favor of yours we'll need a bit more incentive than a dusty scroll."

Quarion looks pensive for a moment and then adds, "This escalation could get totally out of hand. Does this young worm have a mother who might take umbrage at our dispatching her brat? Ye Gods, what about uncles, cousins twice removed and the odd god parent. I think you'd best be a bit more forthcoming about this little dragon's family tree and exactly what he's done to motivate you to put a price upon his scaly brow?"

OOC: Sulannus/Shayuri, I fail to detect any slander in gleithendale's words, let alone vile slander. Anyway, it was unintentional. I was going for the "crotchety old man" thing, but I meant no offense to anyone, player or character.

IC: "Very well, why don't you tell me what it would take to ensure your aid? Bear in mind, however, that if I pay you in gold and/or magic in advance of the job being done, then by Feywild Law you give up your claim on the dragon's hoard and freely accept the role of mere 'hirelings.' Your claim to the hoard then devolves to me as the principal who hired you. If that is truly what you wish, then we can negotiate toward that end."

(OOC - He was pretty verbal in rebuking her for saying 'fool', but she never actually said it. That's kind of slanderous, don't you think? :) I mean, okay, technically this is all written so it's more libel, but still. (^_^))
