The less wise younger brother lacks Galin's self-control. "Localized you say? That is interesting. I must tell you that we are indeed deeply concerned by the Dwoemerfall and that we were seeking to study it when we became distracted by your attacks."

Archangault the Elusive

Quarion supposes the fang-filled grimace on Archangault's face may be what passes for a 'smile' among dragon-kind.

Archangault the Elusive

"I once blamed the Dweomerfall upon mortal arcanists, you in particular. I have since decided that this was an error. Now I know that the Dweomerfall is being caused by one particular being who is constructing a great engine of magic to siphon-off the magical energy from this plane into his own discrete little planar realm. He muist not be allowed to succeed. You may know that I am being sincere about this by the fact that I have suffered you to approach me freely without even feeling the slightest discomfort." In fact, none of you feel the slightest discomfort from being in the presence of the great and terrible beast, as you know is usual in the close company of dragons.

"Alright, if this is the truth, just give us back our gear and point us in the right direction, or even better tell us the exact place, where this mage dwells. We will solve this problem."

Galin says confidently.

"Good,I am glad you feel up to the challenge! I shall do even better than that though, I will transport you to his plane with your gear. But he is no mortal mage," says Archangault.

"Let's be off then." Suggests Quarion as he finds being unarmed in the dragon's lair to be more than the 'slightest discomfort'. Then he hesitates, "Um about this plane we are about to be whisked off too, what's it like?"

Archangault the Elusive

"Excellent question, Quarion. Yes, I know your names. (What a pity that your sister Sulannus was not found worthy to be summoned with the rest of you, but no matter.) The demi-plane is rather reminiscent of parts of Mechanus -- all sharp angles, harsh outlines, and a tendency toward clashing colors -- not a terribly attractive place. And a trifle too warm for my tastes as well. What you will be looking for is an engine or device of some kind, probably about the size of a building or small hillock. I don't imagine that its location will be much of a secret if you look around a bit. Should be fairly obvious, and in a place of some prominence. I'm sorry that I cannot say what methods will be most suited to dismantling the thing, whether you can just beat it apart, or whether more ... arcane ... energies will accomplish that better. But you are a resourceful lot, I'm sure that you will learn quickly. When your have finished, sound upon this whistle three shrill blasts and you will be returned here." Archangault presents to Quarion a silver, tubular whistle eight inches long with a lanyard affixed to it by which it may be worn around the neck.

* I have edited almost all of my posts that have been made since your characters have been in the presence of Archangault the Elusive. It might be a good idea to go back and start reading with post # 225.

"Very well, sounds like an unpleasant enough place, but since the job must needs be done.."

He pauses, "Um, oh great and mighty Archangault I do have one or two other matters to discuss and perhaps gain benefit of your great wisdom upon one or two others. First of all, with regard to the demi-plane, how warm exactly is 'too warm for your tastes?' are we talking topical or is the atmosphere more akin to boiling oil here? Second you did not mention the inhabitants who might be present and object to our kicking over their sand castle. There is also the matter of our darling sister. Is she quite well, at least as far as you know? And there is the matter of our mounts. They were with us when you brought us to this little parlay. Now since we are fast friends with the same purpose I hope you'll consider that dinning upon those fine beasts would be most disheartening to us." He looks pointedly at Rinivan, "at least most of us."

Archangault the Elusive

"Valid points, all, my good Quarion. The ambient temperature tends to hover around 180-200 degrees farenheit. This can be quite exhausting for those not prepared, but relatively easy to counteract. If worst comes to worst, you should be able to survive for a day or more. Water tends to be fairly rare, at least in its liquid state, so that may also be an inconvenience. It certainly makes me despise the place. There may be other beings there, given the particulars of the location, I would tend to rather expect there to be some modrons or perhaps even some devils in the vicinity. I don't know what their role may be or whether they may object to your presence. Or possibly object to your damaging the engine. Sulannus is well as far as I know, but I don't really know that much about her situation. Your mounts are fine. If you would prefer to ride them on this errand, then I can give them directions that will get you to the proper plane without too much trouble, but the route does pass through a quite hostile area, which is one of the few planes from which this pocket plane can be reached, and the others that I know of are much, much worse or uninhabitable in the extreme. Any more questions?"
