Unfortunately, Sozin doesn't have much luck testing the current by sense of touch. He was sure it was one way, but then it seemed to change, maybe a fish swam by too close?

OOC: From your post, Helfdan, I can't tell whether you're following the tracks forward to their destination, or back their origin. They are coming from higher on the hill and leading down, along the river somewhere.

OOC: Thanks, boss! I meant to follow them up the hill first, to their origin.

Eldran and the Tracks

OOC: Good, I was hoping that you would do so.

Eldran traces the path of the creature further up the hill, through narrow defiles, and along precipitous ledges. Finally, it leads behind a large boulder through a space so tight that you don't think you can fit, but you manage somehow, and emerge into a broader space surrounded on all four sides by rock walls but you see daylight filtering down indirectly from the sky high above. Before you is the opening of a cave-mouth.

Eldran smiles grimly, then takes some still-fresh mistletoe from a pouch at his belt, and intones mystical words he learned from the elves of the Vesve ((OOC: Casting Speak with animals)). "My friend," he speaks to Swiftwing. "Fly to Yurei and the others, and guide them back here. Be swift, but wary."

Once the hawk has gone, Eldran readies sword and shield and peers into the cave entrance, but goes no further for now.

You are lounging on the river bank, getting a little sun during the half hour or so that the Ranger is gone, when with a flutter of feathers and a squawk, a familiar bird arrives.

 

[Helfdan]

Eldran mutters to himself. "A scout who can't see anything is not much of a scout..." He then slings his shield on his back and lights a torch. Torch in his left hand and blade in his right, he peers into the cave entrance.
