Actually, I think it was a Rod of Smiting and a Staff of Striking. The RoS was the cleric version of the Staff of Striking.

I saw nothing on the rod or staff that would comfort the flesh golum in either of those linksAnd let's not forget the d20SRD: Golem, Flesh, with other sorts above and below

He hasn't asked to resume playing Simeon, I don't know whether he will, and I'm not sure that I would allow him to do so, but, there it is -- he's back on ENWorld. Okay, I am now sure that Simeon won't be joining the party of wizards at their present location, even if he is still alive and wandering the Underdark somewhere.
