Let me see your mini's

Here's another picture of the Werner Klocke's infamous Battle Nuns. I haven't picked up the newest member, so I still only have the original foursome. By the way, Milo, what part of Virginia are you in?

And here's some figurines from an old campaign setting my friends and I used. We lifted a few of our favorite video games to create characters and prestige classes, so these two were members of SOLDIER (of FF7 fame) with my character, Cloud, being on the left. Yeah, we had no imagination back then.

The Base is a 2 inch round washer [black curve at bottom] It could also double for various Wyrm spawn from Werewolf: the Apocalypse, but it was made for the Call of Cthulhu RPG.

“Flowing tentacles and a pulpy gray-black, elongated sack of a body.…no distinguishing features at all other than the reaching, groping tentacles. or was there - yes! – a lump in the upper body of the thing…a container of sorts for the brain, ganglia, or whatever diseased organ governed this horror’s loathsome life!” – Brian Lumley, The Burrowers Beneath

Thanx to my friend tobus who took the digital photos. [conflicting scheduals prevent daylit photo shoots for my minis]. One day i might be able to gat some better photos of this thing.

It was made by:

twisting pipe cleaners [channel] into the desired form. [sorta like a pipe cleaner tree]

I then burned the outer fuzz away with a cigarette lighter.

Twisted body into pose

Used hot glue to attach to 20 cent washer

Applying Hot glue to entire form using nozzle to shape texture got the slimy textures.

I then Primed with black automotive primer

Base coated with black ink & white glue mix I had.[being out of black paint sux]

Spray Gloss coat 1 & 2

I added floral wire for the feeder tendrils that drain the fluids from its victims inside the mouth that I painted purple at bottom to red tips [pic did not capture this]

Spray Gloss coat 3 & 4

Dry-brushed orange. purple, yellow and green metallics for the oil slick iridescent sheen.

Spray Gloss coat 5

mixed white glue with sand and buried wyrm's tail to make Cthonian look like it was burrowing out of the base.

Well right now i am working on Some dark young of Shub-Niggurath using the pipe cleaners trees concept http://www.terragenesis.co.uk as a base design and coating with hot glue as the cthonian i did. I will have to epoxy putty some hooves for it once the body is made.

this site has what one sorta looks like www.paratime.ca/v_and_v/pics/darkyoung_bw.jpg

This was such a nice surprise. I completely forgot I posted this thread and came by to see what was going on in the art forum.

Tenkawa - You may not use too much shading, but you have very clean brush strokes with consistent layering and color in the paint. I think if you wanted to take your painting to the next level you could have fantabulous looking figs. These are very impressive.

Milo - I love the axe, particularly the gray crack lines in the black, it is simple, but well executed for a nice effect. The shading on the flesh looks good, if you add some white to your original flesh color and highlight the highest points of the flesh I think you would like the effect. My favorite part is his mouth; the lips really work well.

Darius - As always, nice figs. The rune sword fig is really cool, who makes it?

Flyspeck - Love the fig and good job on the red cloth skirt thingy. I have a very hard time getting reds to work with shading.

Frank the DM - This is awesome. I love homemade figs and this one came with instructions - you rock. This winter I want to modify a few figs and try to make one from scratch. I am not particularly strong with special knowledge and application, but I never thought I could paint either, while not great, I am much better than when I started a few years ago.

Keep them coming you all helped keep a smile on my face this afternoon.

Here's a GW goblin shaman that I just recently finished. I'm still experimenting with the best way to get pix up online (my digital camera isn't exactly bleeding edge), but this one turned out pretty clear.

Kengar,
the fig looks nice. The easiest way to get your figures looking good is to have a nice macro on your camera (mine came with super macro allowing me to get the lens within an inch or so) and make sure you have good lighting. Get the light in front and soften it if you can so the edges don't jump out too harshly.

New work

This one I completed about a month ago. I feel proud of this one because it was my first foray into painting "Non-metallic metal". It's slightly out of focus I'll try to update it later with a better picture.
