I simply call it "5e". If wanting to compare corebooks, I say "2024" versus "2014".

Saying 5.24 versus 5.14 is fine with me, when needing to distinguish.

(For 3e, I call all of it "3e". So, 3e typically means 3.5. But if needing to distinguish, I say 3.5 versus 3.0.)

Now, I would do 5e similarly, but like the neutral reference to the year. So, 5.24 versus 5.14. But all of it is 5e.

My reasoning is the same, but 5.24 and 5.14 sound odd to me, so I think I'll go with 5e (2014) and 5e (2024) if I want to distinguish between the two. Or stick with 5.0 and 5.5 because it's short and convenient.
But I guess, eventually I will just call it whatever people around me end up calling it.
