Personally, I enjoy the grognards who flood the gaming space with opinions on gaming rooted firmly in the 20th century and hold disdain for anything that came after the year 2000 unless it directly caters to them and their nostalgia. They go on and on with stories about how things were better back then, perceived issues with older D&D is simply due to not understanding its brilliance, players bowed their head to the great wisdom of the DM and the world they bestowed upon them, and when people weren't offended by redskin orcs because it was just a game bro. And then everyone stands up and applauds because they know in their hearts it's true and we live only in the shadow of a lie.
I always look forward to what nugget of knowledge they are here to bestow to the ignorant masses wallowing in modern D&D. I learn so much about how not only was I playing wrong when I decided I didn't like OS play, but that I'm still doing it wrong now.
Most importantly, I love how such info is unsolicited and not always on topic. Because true knowledge is not always sought by the student, sometimes they must be bludgeoned by it at every opportunity.
It makes me feel at home to be part of a community that is dedicated to the past. One who laughs at Thac0 not because it's a worse system than upwards AC but because they know true players only use an attack matrix.
