Solitary Role Playing
Being able to make your own G.I. Joe is one of the things I loved about them as a kid. All you needed is a small Phillips head screwdriver and you could kitbash your own characters. Those B.A.T.s were great for adding cybernetic limbs, for example. Of the three, I'm looking forward to G.I. Joe the most - I'm old enough that I missed Power Rangers, and while Transformers were up my alley as a kid (and I still think the toys are cool), but the appeal of playing a transforming robot in an RPG isn't as immediate to me.
Sadly I never had a GI Joe.

I had Big Jim instead. He was a karate master and secret agent. I just looked him up on wiki and had no idea there were so many different Jims.

I remember that there were still a few of that line (plus the original G.I. Joe and oversized Star Wars ones) still circulating when I was a very young kid, but they were mostly on their way out.

So who is your favorite Autobot?

I generally preferred the bad guys as a kid, but my very first Transformers toy was this guy:

I am really excited about the transformers RPG I grew up watching the show and really want to play as my favorite Autobot!

Well, sure, but I haven't seen many since I was pre-K, around 1990.
I've seen new vinyl in bookstores in the last year. Didn't pay much attention, as my turntable has been missing for years.
I'll note that Lorde has released her 3rd album on vinyl this year. Entitled Solar Power. The Scorpions rereleased Lovedrive 50th Anniversary on Vinyl.
Have a link to the top-40 vinyl for 2021 so far: The Official Top 40 best-selling vinyl releases of 2021 so far

In that case I'd have to go for either the Insecticons' Shrapnel or the Constructicon's Mixmaster.

The Transformers franchise has definitely evolved and changed over the years, displaying a richness belying its origin as the simple Diaclone toyline.

Ooh Brawn.

Well, nothing stops you from playing a Decepticon, you just need to set your story in the Post-War reconstruction era! You could totally do a game with the Scavengers!

Krampus ate my d20s
Two weeks back I stopped in a shop in Lake Placid that had GI Joe No1 in mint condition for sale. I loved that series. I loved the cartoon in all it's campy glory for different reasons. I am very much looking forward to E20 GI Joe. Now I need a Thundarr the Barbarian RPG and my nostalgic self can be complete...

In the shatered universe the autobots are evil and the decepticons are the good guys, and even the colorful pattern are the opposites.

Nostalgy is a good hook but my opinion is G.I.Joe will allow more different types of stories when the others are always the same enemies. G.I.Joe as TTRPG has got more creative freedom.

I agree - it seems like there's a lot you could do with a G.I.Joe game system.

But this begs the question: for those who know Power Rangers well, how useful would it be for other subgenres? Granted, we haven't seen the full rules yet, but given the various series/incarnations, is there a good chance it would work as - for instance - a fairly generic supers system?

It COULD, but maybe not in this specific book? If the book focuses on the Zordon era (Mighty Morphin, Zeo, Turbo, In Space) then the most generic super powers you got is probably the Kerovans psionic training (and I guess the Triforian's abilities to split into 3?) which allows them to move things with telekinesis and that, supposedly, any human in the PR world can learn.

In the Disney Era, however (Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD, Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive, Jungle Fury and RPM), it was FAR more common for each Ranger to possess a unique powers they could deploy as a civilian. Super speed, super strength, sonic screams, invisibility, and then some!

That said, if the book does cover Power Rangers In Space, and possible Lost Galaxy, we could have ourself a decent basic sci-fi system. After all, other planets and aliens are a mainstay of Power Rangers. With the martial arts aspect you might be able to get a kung fu movie setting out of it, though I would imagine GI Joe could also cover that.

Lightspeed Rescue was basically Thunderbirds with more martial arts (at least in the first few episodes, they don't do THAT much rescuing :p ). And both Time Force and SPD dealt with cops fighting against superhuman threats (mutants and aliens, respectively) so we might get some investigation skills in there. But that's all outside the Zordon era proper, even if Lightspeed Rescue and Time Force were from Saban.

If we covered Mystic Force you could easily kludge an Urban Fantasy game out of it.
