Let's say D&D ceases to exist...what do you play?

Well, if D&D didn't exist, I guess I'd have to play World of Synnibarr, FATAL, or Wraethu: From Enchantment to Fulfillment.

Thank god such a nightmare scenario will never come to pass...

Savage Worlds & Mutants & Masterminds (both of which I'm playing or GMing now), GURPS, Shadowrun, FATE, maybe Eclipse Phase, or whatever else we decide to play.

Maybe we'd hoist the black flag, and play D&D or Pathfinder anyways! We'd be rebels! Revolutionaries! Playing by memory, assuming cosmic obliteration of D&D material!

Without D&D or Pathfinder we'd probably play anything White Wolf as the main game. Or maybe finally start an RPG campaign in Warhammer Fantasy.

Probably WFRP 2e or DCA. I'm currently reading Smallville, and a Cortex Plus game in a Zombie Apocolypse setting (ala Walking Dead) or in the A Song of Ice and Fire setting would be fun...or a Smallvillesque Green Lantern game, also cool.

If D&D ceased to exist, I would:

a - marvel at all the free space in my bookshelves

b - get cracking on my epic WFRP campaign

c - play Call of Cthulhu until ready for WFRP
