It makes a big difference. Being frightened, she can retreat to the 'safety' of the ethereal plane and block herself in with walls of force or whatever until the original frightful presence wears off (then it will be only shaken again). You have the rules in the arena such that only being panicked do you flee the arena. Did I not understand that properly? [/sblock]

As far as I can tell, the actions that result from either a frightened or panicked condition are very similar - the victim trys to put as much distance between himself and the source of the fear as possible. Holing up in the ethereal plane and being stationary does not satisfy either condition IMO.

That was unexpected, but I always did think Lady Mariangela's defenses were weak for a CR 20 creature.

Gansk, you never answered the question about whether you forgot to roll the shadow dragon's saving throw against leaving the arena.
