Liefeld Returns to Marvel -- X-Force #1

I actually enjoyed this free preview. Though I'm glad it was free, since I probably wouldn't pay money for this. ;) But it was fun in a cheesy and overly dramatic kind of way.

I like the (thankfully free!) preview---however---is it just me, or is the anatomy really outta wack? (especially on the earlier seens w/the white gal)

I must confess that I actually liked ONE of Liefeld's works. Namely, his Hawk & Dove miniseries for DC Comics waaay back when they introduced Dawn Granger as Dove II. In fact, his Dawn Granger was a real hottie. But he seemed to lose his way between this and X-Force/New Mutants...

Even Al Milgrom, I think that's how it's spelled, was better than him. Liefield seems to think that cool comic art is a series of pinups from what I've seen of him. He has ZERO storytelling ability and no idea of human anatomy and how it works.

What made him a hot artist back in the mid 90's? I mean at least McFarlane, Lee, Larson, & Silvestri knew basic anatomy and how tell a story with art, to a degree at least. Liefeld had none of that. Were speed lines that much of a decisive factor back then? What the heck does he bring to the table?

Seeing that all titles he's done outside of the X-verse have been flops, except for
Youngblood, which sold well simply because it was an Image title during the Image
craze and Supreme, but even that was struggling before Alan Moore took over the
writing reins, I think it's safe to bet that he was simply on the right titles at the
right time. X-titles. Doesn't matter who's doin' 'em. They always sell well (why?!?).

It's like Chuck Austen. He's been writin' crap for the various X-Men titles for years.
So he's gettin' all kinda deals. He's a "hot" writer. Yet, all titles he writes outside of
the safe-sellers always flop. Even the few ones that don't really suck (aren't that
great, but not quite in the same vomit territory as his X-Men and Superman work).
