Lightning arc the helpless

If i have the lightning arc feat and hit a helpless enemy or ally with a lightning power, can i get arcs from the converted coup de grace crit hits?

"coup de grace" is an action (standard action), so you're not doing the "use a power" action.
Coup de grace specifically states that you're using a power against an enemy adjacent to you.

So you can't coup de grace multiple targets, nor can you choose to splatter an ally.
I'm assuming you were considering a multi-target power of some description, and intending to reduce the crit on your unconscious ally and get more free zaps off?

However, if you're performing a legal coup de grace, then sure ... you can lightning arc.

Neither are a legitimate targets (DMG 40). However, after you stick your ally with a dagger, they probably will be.

The idea is to:
Cast sleep
Stab helpless enemy with lightning daggers or lightning bolt
Convert crit hits into normal ones with feat
Arc the lightning at another enemy

Does that work?

The game uses the terms 'ally', 'enemy' and 'creature' for a reason.

Well, actually.... if you target your ally with the coup de grace and they go 'WHAT, ARE YOU INSANE THAT WILL KILL ME!?!' and do not consent, then they are technically enemies and you can target them.

The moment they think it's a good idea tho, they become willing targets and are allies and no longer valid.

That is, any discussion like this one will have to remain theoretical, because the game specifically empowers the DM to disallow cheese, no matter how "legal" it may seem to the rules lawyers...
