Lingering Song + Horn (Complete Adventurer)

Black Bard

First Post
The Complete Adventurer says that the horn (musical instrument) can be used to increase ny one point the damage bonus and the save bonus granted by the inspire courage bard's ability, but in doing so the effect lasts only for 1 round after the bard stops performing (instead of the usual 5 rounds).

Lingering Song is a feat from the Complete Adventurer that extends the referred 5 rounds of effect of the inspire courage ability to 1 minute.

My question is: does the Lingering Song feat (from Complete Adventurer) permit the Horn-improved inspire courage to last for 1 minute, despite the musical instrument's description?

It seems to me that having the feat should confer some benefit to the character, at least allowing 5 rounds after the bard stopping the performance. But does anyone know if there's an official answer to that question?

Thanks in advance, fellows!

The feat is doubling the time from 5 round to 10 (1 minute), so I'd say the Horn can do 2 rounds instead of 1 if you had the feat.

Thanks for your opinions, guys. I was wondering if the feat would overrule the horn characteristics, thus being applied the 1 minute duration.
In any event, I searched on WotC's FAQs and found no official answer. I think it will be a matter of convincing the DM to at least permit the 5 rounds duration (2 rounds is just useless and a fighter/bard that fights while continuously blows a horn is kinda ridiculous).

THe 2 rounds is obvioulsy what would be expected. I see no reason to think a feat would over ride the horn. At least no more then thinking the horn over rides the feat.

While i agree with Artoomis, Shilsen and others, it could be argued that the feat is extending the time by 5 rounds, not doubling the time from 5 to 10 rounds (Lingering song + horn = 6 rounds). Does the feat description say "doubles" or "extends" since if it doubles i can't see and argument for this being made.

It doesn't say either. It says:

Benefit: The effect lasts one minute.
Normal: The effect lasts five rounds.

And the horn says:

The effect lasts for only one round.

So the question then becomes, are there any other cases in which the Normal is different, from what would normally be normal, but the benefit stays the same?

Multiclass Wizard/Cleric with the Spell Mastry feat - he can indeed prepare spells other than Read Magic without his book (admittedly, Divine ones) but still gains the benefit of the feat (he can prepare the Wizard spells he learned due to the feat)?
