Hello everyone im going to be getting into the wonderfully marvolous world of DMing and im not sure if there is already a thread like this. But i know it would be a great boon for me and probobly a lot of new DM's out there if everyone here would give thier favorite ploits for adventures or ones that could have done a bit better but were good none-the-less.
Oberyn, I think one of the difficulties with responding to your request is that it is very hard to come up with advice without any information whatsoever about the game setting. Maybe if you told us a few things you have already thought up, we could make suggestions but it's really tough to help out when there's so little to go on.

If you would like copies of the setting materials from the last two D&D worlds I made, I would be happy to oblige. Maybe you could cull some ideas from there.

Ancient elder horrors that manipulate men for their own dark deeds. Sometimes those being manipulated throw off the shackles and turn on their former masters and sometimes they don't as they enjoy the power offered to them.

Lets the GM throw cultists, things from beyond the pale and other horrors at the PCs.

hmmm it sounds interesting but this guild would want to watch how they do things. they are looking for inoovative people. also they would have to test how evil they were... such as by finding a person who cheated tied up in a seemingly empty and unvisible room. but if they did cup de grace them they would be rejected things like that.

Well, if the Guild is powerful enough, they could have a Wizard Scry on the party while they did their adventure. If the ruins were inhabited by Goblins (for example) then they could see how the PC's handled situations like the non-combatant women and children. They could also see if the group was holding out on them from a treasure standpoint. That sort of thing.
