Living in a European City for 3 months

Ok all you non-USers and non-Canadaers, if you could chose any city in europe (and that includes the UK although that may be up for debate :)) what city would you want to spend 3 months in and why?

Well, I already spent roughly three months last year living near Bangor in North Wales. Beautiful place, middle of no where, and just...well, a great place. I'm definitely going to move there one day.

It'd have to be London. Its the only place I can really understand the language.
Of my time in the UK, I spent about two weeks in London. I will avoid that place as much as possible...too many people. Far, far too many people.

Of course, I can't really stand crowds if I don't have to, and I would love to live in the middle of no where. Hence my love of North Wales. Miles and miles of emptiness.

I was actually planning on living and such then, but things changed(long thread about that back in September) and I had to come back to the states.

Internet connectivity wasn't bad at all. Had access to cable, though we were just on the edge of the line. It really all depends on where exactly you are, but BT seems to have spread fairly well through most of the Northern parts of Wales.

I'll put my vote in for Paris. I lived there for five years when I was younger, and its a lot of fun. Markets, museums, wonderful old buildings, centrally located to a lot of neat areas in France (Normandy, Loire Valley, etc.). Great public transportation. Great cafes. Great food, and you can get it fairly cheap if you get off the beaten path.

Many other cities would seem to be a little dull after three months, but there's no question you could find things to fill up all your time in Paris. And there are lots of places that you can go to rent apartments for a month or more.

I haven't been since the 80's, but I imagine its much the same. And the famous Parisian attitude mellows out a great deal if you attempt to speak French first - that way you demonstrate to the average frenchman that your french is far worse than his english, and makes them more comfortable. The French may not be fond of our government, but they're generally very fond of Americans.

It's a while since I've been to anywhere in France or Italy - Prague tends to be full of Americans (or often feels like that to me), Budapest is interesting, and I actually quite liked what I saw of Munich.

Of course I live in London (and am a native of it) so tend to think:
London is the only true city, everything else is a pale imitation

If you are looking outside the UK it is useful to speak the local language as well as English.
