Lizardman Barbarian

So I have this idea that it might be fun to play a Lizardman Barbarian as my next character. I like the idea of being able to grapple folks and bite their faces repeatedly.

I am reading the 3.5SRD at work and trying to figure out how to make such a character. From what I understand...if a monster in the MM has more than one HD (which the Lizardfolk does) then in order to play them as a character their effective level becomes...

Monster HD + Level Adjustment + Character Level.

So, a 1st level Lizardman Barbarian would be....
2 + 1 + 1= 4th level character.

If that math is correct, then what would my starting XP be? And how much would I need for the next level?

It works just as if you multiclassed into three levels of lizardman. You are effectively Lizardman 3/Barbarian 1. So you are 4th level, have 6,000xp and need 4,000xp to level. The only difference is, stat increases and feats are based on hitdice (which includes class levels, but not ECL), so you wouldn't have your first stat increase yet.
