D&D 5E [LMoP] New DM having issues with some Pregen backgrounds (spoilers)

Nemio

First Post
I'm preparing to run LMoP for a group a newbies in a few weeks time. Just so you know, I'm completely new to DnD myself.

I'm having some issues with the backgrounds of the pregen chars. It seems they were made after the adventure were written and don't fit in nicely everywhere.

I mostly have questions about the rogue:

  • You were part of the Redbrands so wouldn't you know everything about their Manor HQ such as the Nottic, the secret entrance, secret doors etc. ?

Someone in a Reddit post made a good suggestion suggesting that you were perhaps only a recruit which didn't have access to their HQ.

Or perhaps you were ran out of town a month ago and they renovated the manor in the meanwhile?

  • You were set up by someone within the Redbrands but it doesn't mention who or why. Any good suggestions how to fit this in?

The Cleric:

  • As a "Mercenary Sergant" you still have some influence over lower rank Mintarn soldiers, you can requisition simple equipment and horses for temporary use and gain access to Mintarn mercenary encampments and fortresses.

This seems fun to include but I'm not sure how. Any suggestions?

If you want advice here, maybe ask the mods to shift your thread to the 5E board.

You posted in the wrong place. :)

Oh wow, thanks for pointing that out.
I somehow made a shortcut to this part of the forum and thus created the topic here.

Let's see if I can figure out how to ask the mods :)

You could station a small garrison of Mintran soldiers in town that the character might run into.

Or have one camped along the road somewhere. Use it as an opportunity to get some minor help or a safe place to rest and recover.
