Looking for a city setting

Semi-hijack:

Speaking of citys, has anybody heard any news regarding Windhaven?

This Map ( shrunk ) has really whetted my appetite:

I looked at Windhaven, but that project/company seems to have fallen off the map (nyuk nyuk).

Every so often I also e-mail them and see what is going on...usually a we are working on it but after all this time I stopped checking. I do not know the status of Windhaven but it looked cool.

As for the cities listed:
Looked at SoS and like it..it learned from Bluffside and Freeport.
Own Freeport, played a bit there and it also is a great city with a pirate theme.
Helped create Bluffside, so no comment.
Do not have Geneavue so I can be no help there.

But Bluffie, SoS and Freeport are all great and Bluffie and Freeport have some nice freebies online to help as well.

Bluffy is still the best with Freeport close behind. Dunno about Genueave...just haven't read it...and didn't seem to spark much interest from what I did read in the previews. But that's just me.

Thorntangle, hope you don't mind my butting in, rather than starting a new thread.

I too am looking for a good city setting, specifically in which to set a gladiator campaign. I can drop the arena just outside the city, so that is not a problem, and most of the action will take place in that arena, but I want to city itself to be well-established, so that the players can feel that it is there. Interesting political situations would be nice, and of course it has to be a city that would permit and/or sponsor gladiatorial games.

Standard magic level is probably best. Any suggestions?

Bluffside has an arena in the city, it is in the underground section and is not widely talked about, hope that helps.

Monkeys of Freeport? Now I'm interested.

I do not knwo what he is talking about
*veins enlarge in head*
no monkeys in Freeport
*feels heart give way*
*pop*
I hate monkeys states my PC Caltros the Witty, I really did I was almost ready to throw my life and the lives of my fellow party members in harms way to kill a fricken money...it is sad, we do not talk about it anymore, my therapist says it is a good thing.

Bluffside is good, but not even remotely generic. At least it's serious.

Freeport is incredibly dorky (at least the City of Adventure book is). Dark, it ain't. There's no thieves guild, 2 gangs which are straight out of a musical, has super-cops (from New York no less - seriously) and full of lame jokes (like the New York cops). Also has hippies. It also doesn't really have many pirates, because Freeport has gone legit (for the most part), and is generally better policed and less crime ridden than any major city in the US or Western Europe..

I originally compared it to the Pirates of the Carribean from Disney, but that was apparently unfair to Disney.

7 Cities is great. It's not one city, but seven. The city books from Sword & Sorcery are also pretty good. They're set in the scarred lands, but can be removed without too much trouble.
