Looking for a review(s)

weem

First Post
My site (Mindqwerk Studios) has been listed on the d20 publishers list and my latest products is available for free download, but has yet to be reviewed.

It has been available for about 2 weeks.

Question - About how long does it take to get a review generally? I would understand if it takes longer than a few weeks as there are only a few people who review all of the listed products so the question is merely out of curiosity.

However, if there is a reviewer here who is looking among the list and wading through the hoards of products trying to decide what to review, I'm quite anxious to see what you might think so I would recommend ours :)

Here's a link to the listing here at EN World...

http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/reviews/index.php?sub=yes&where=currentprod&which=CotD

And two more quick things...

1- Under "Most Recent Product" on the d20 publishers list, ours (Mindqwerk Studios) says "No products released yet " which is incorrect obviously as we have one posted...

2- The link for "No products released yet " goes to Malls and Morons recent product (who is listed just above us on the list).

One thing to note is that we have been listed there since the product was released, we didn't just get added yesterday or anything :)

Anyway, just thought I would check on those things.

Please don't read this as an immediate request for correction, but rather a heads-up and a request for people to let us all know what you think of it :)

<edited to tack on email notification:) >

Thanks,

It really depends on the product. Most big named books get reviewed within a week or two. PDF products seem to take a little longer as fewer people seem to review them. Each reviewer is obviously different with amount of time a review takes as well as how much stuff they already have that needs reviewed. There really are no exact answers. Posting this thread is good first step.

The easiest way to get a review is to send a comp copy to a reviewer. The ENWorld reviewers receive comp copies of print and PDF products so they do not go out of their way to look for stuff people don't know about. As a PDF maker you have push your products on reviewers in order to get noticed. This includes placed like EnWorld, GameWyrd, and other sites.

Generally speaking, free PDFs only get reviewed by people with too much time on their hands or people who really liked something and want to praise it. (At least, that's what has motivated me to review free PDFs :p )

Really, people can just download it themselves and make up their own minds. (And in this case, the PDF is pretty small/short.) Part of the (perhaps the main) reason to write reviews is to help people decide whether or not a product is worth buying - when it's free, that's changed to "Is it worth taking the few minutes to download".

BTW - I just downloaded it - and this is a nitpick of mine (as the Green Ronin people can tell you), but you didn't update section 15 properly - you got most of it right, but you need to add the SRD as well.

1- err - this is because the release date was down as 4th quarter - 2003! not 2002 - you couldn't actually enter 2002 (well not since the beginning of 2003 actually) so I've changed it so you can put last years dates in and changed the release date for yours
2- just a little bug, honest - fixed :D

Once again, you have cleared things up for me :)

One last thing - "I" can't actually make any changes to my product profiles or company listing at EN World correct?...

"...so I've changed it so you can put last years dates..."

I'm assuming you meant "you" as in admins at EN World seeing as how my standard logon and password don't work in that area, and the fact that I am already logged in.

Anyway, thanks again.

No, Everyone can now make amendments to products (see the bit in bright red that says "Editing Options" midway down the page)

You will need to log in [different login from messageboards I'm afraid] but other than that you can update it anytime. The changes are then "queued" for mdoerator approval - but believe me - it seems to be working very well at the moment.

Also - you're server appears to be down at the moment - were you aware?

I noticed that, so I tried my standard (messageboard) logon wihch failed. I wasn't aware anyone could register there and get editing options for the products page.

I have since registered and am all set. Looks good.

Must have just been a moment - I have been in and out of there for the last hour and haven't had trouble - seems to be up still. Maybe a server hiccup? :)
