Looking for a specific kind of adventure or a short scenario to slip into my game

Mercurius

Legend
...I'm running a new 5E campaign with a session Friday night (two nights from now) and am in a bit of a time crunch with other projects, so am looking to "cheat" a bit and either use a published adventure that suits my game, or a pre-made short scenario that I can read over and slot in.

Here's the situation in short: In a very short first session the PCs met in a tavern. Yes, they did. One of them was waylaid outside by a number of wandering skeletons. They holed up in the tavern to find a horde of skeletons gather outside. After killing a bunch with molotov cocktails, they made a run for it. In session two they fled westward, fighting off skeletons on their way to the closest fortified town. They made it there, and then while resting over ale, tried to figure out what was going on. They found that at least two of them were wearing similar medallions with some unknown magic. One of them went out to the wall of the town to find a horde of hundreds of skeletons whose blank-yet-creepy gazes went up to him as he held up the medallion. Before ending the session, the players decided to investigate further - asking a local mage, temple, etc. All of that will happen in session three, and then presumably they will (or might) follow various hooks to go to a lone tower about twenty miles away around which is the remnants of an old battlefield from which the skeletons presumably came from (they figured this out from the armor the skeletons were wearing).

Sorry to bog you down with details, but I'm looking for something relatively specific, or something close enough that I can quickly mod. Basically I'm looking for creepy tower inhabited by a low-level necromancer who is raising skeletons from the dead (for reasons I won't go into here), or a short scenario that I can easily plop into their path on the way to the tower, which would then give me time to design the tower for the next session.

Any ideas? I'd love if it were 5E, but given that there isn't much out there, any D&D scenarios will do - preferably in PDF form so I can buy and download it. I may have time to do a bit of planning tomorrow, but thought I'd evoke the erudition of ENWorld.

Thanks.

Hmmm, how about on their way to the tower they see a farmhouse surrounded by the skeletons, and can see folks in/ on the house in need of rescue. Why this farm? Maybe a clue!

Or they are on the road and their presence draws skeletons down on other travelers. So they need to avoid the road. Best alternate route? Thru the forest of doom...

Necromancer Games "The Wizard's Amulet 5e" segwaying, to the tower from "The Crucible of Freya" (3.5 but easy to convert, also easy to find). Alter the amulets to passkeys given by the wanna-be lich so his friends can visit him going along with the original storyline. Change out the orcs to low power gouls (orc stats but undead). The evil cleric/wizard wants the amulets to get into the "liches" library, which he assumes holds books and power. He has been sending out skeletons to find them. You can keep the Freya worshipping village if you like.

These modules were designed for beginners and starting groups. I've used the 3e versions several times.

Thanks. The original inspiration behind this campaign was the Walking Dead, although I preferred the idea of older zombies, thus skeletons. But the reason the skeletons are out en masse, is for two reasons: to "undead-ify" the landscape in preparation of the return of an ancient wizard-lich, and to find the medallions which are keys to bringing the lich back. The PCs have three of the medallions, which were passed down as heirlooms (although one PC isn't telling the others that he has one). I was originally thinking there were only five medallions, but maybe there are more - say, 12, which were given to guardians to protect them from being re-gathered.

I'll check them out - I've heard of them, of course. What you write here is somewhat similar to the metaplot I'm working on (see above).
