D&D 5E Looking for advice: Tome of Horrors by Frog God Games... for use w/5E?

First Post
I'm looking for some quick advice here. I backed Necromancer Games / Frog God's Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/necromancergames/necromancer-games-back-for-5th-edition) for all three books. After snagging the Fifth Edition Foes PDF by registering on their web site, I received an "offer" from them that gets me the hardbound Tome of Horrors 4 for *free* if I buy Tome of Horrors Complete. Of course, offer ends at midnight.

I'm liking FEFoes and am looking forward to getting the hardbound version of that. So...I'm kinda thinking of going in on this offer. The rub: the books have editions that support either Swords & Wizardry or Pathfinder. Since I only play 5E, I'd primarily use them as inspiration rather than "as is". Since 5E is more "old school", I assume the S&W version would be the way to go.

Anyone have either of these? Are they worth the money? Any other thoughts?

One thing that would be disappointing is to go in on these and then see another Kickstarter pop-up in the next few months to support the port of these over to 5E. Which I'm sure I'd probably do. :P

Thanks!!!

I imagine that there will be a 5e Tome of Horrors eventually, especially if 5e Foes does well, so you might want to wait. But if you want to have the monsters for ideas now and to take advantage of the deal, go with the Pathfinder versions. The S&W version is a very very basic stat block, without ability scores for the monsters which is not good for 5e conversions.

S&W stat block looks like this,

Hit Dice: 12
Armor Class: 2 [17] Attacks: 6 bites (1d10+3) Saving Throw: 3
Special: Boil water, scalding blast
Move: 6/18 (swim)
Alignment: Neutrality
Challenge Level/XP: 13/2,300

Followed by a description of the monster and black and white drawing, very little of the above is helpful when converting IMO.
