LOST - 4/11/07 - One of Us (spoilers)

I called it.

I was watching it with my roommate, and he was convinced Juliet was a good person who just wanted to get home. I agreed, but I reminded him that just meant she was willing to do anything to accomplish that goal. I even said, "Wow. Claire's getting sick at a really convenient time."

I understand that things had to happen the way they did (mostly) so that we could get to this point. I like where the show is now, but I didn't like a lot of what came before. I think they should have shown less of Alex and her boyfriend, and found a way to have the Losties actually do stuff while they were captured. I mean, at the end of last season I was convinced Jack had a plan, and that he wanted to be captured. I was disappointed for a lot of this season.

But things are looking up. Now if they'll just lock Juliet in a room until she cracks and tells us the truth, I'll be happy. The Losties are still irking me with their obsession for not saying things like, "TELL ME WHY THE HELL YOU KIDNAP OUR PEOPLE!"

Anyway, does this mean that they got Sun pregnant too? And that they pick 'good people' based on whether they could be used as pregnancy tests?

I was flipping back and forth regarding Juliet....but I like how they revealed what she had done. When Ben said "see you in a week", I figure it's an intimation that something big will happen...possibly in time for the season finale?

Sayyid and Sawyer *did* ask her why the Others are kidnapping their people.

What I want to know is how the Others knew about Sawyer killing an innocent man....literally the night before getting on the plane. I'm sure there wouldn't be enough information for the police in Australia to have tracked him down, and known without a doubt that it was him.

An inconsistency though....Juliet mentioned that no women carry babies to term on the island. Yet several episodes ago, Ben told either Jack or Locke that he was born on the island, and had been there all his life. How is this so? Is that a script error, or some form of clue?

Doubt it was a script error...it's pretty glaring.

Several possibilities:

1) Things used to be different on the island, and women could give birth then (Remember the French woman? Was her daughter born on the island?).

2) Ben's a liar. Oh no, I hurt his feelings. ;)

3) Maybe Ben's mom was a special circumstance...her immune system might not have worked well, so it couldn't turn on him...or she died during childbirth, but he was rescued.

Probably others as well.

Another connect the dots. I think we all saw that Jullette was still an Other, once an other always an other. My question, is Jack buying it and you know what, I don't think so. Sure, the writers have wrote him dumb in the past but I don't think so this time, he knows what is happening and is waiting, don't give them anything to use against him, he is bluffing, we have seen him do it in the past only to have someone else spill the beans.

Information is power and she used it as a knife, Sayid and Sawyer should realize how dangerous she is from the way she used it but they will not.

Using humans as lab rats, the others have placed themselves on a high horse.

Alex and her boyfriend took at most, probably about 15 minutes of screen time out of 4-6 episodes, with most of that coming when Alex was helping Sawyer & Kate escape.

People are going to feel the way they feel, but Lost was never as derailed, IMHO, as say Buffy in the last season. Outside of Jack's Tattoo episode, I have like the episodes so far, and obviously tonights was a sealer.

Re: Sun, this season has been awfully mum about the pregnancy. We overhear Julliet say in one of the flashback scenes " I think it happens at conception". Which I think is going to be the Sun test. If Sun was preggers before coming to the island she should be fine. If Jun was healed, then we might have a problem.

Ben is the perfect embodiment of a D&D devil. Love that guy!
It is interesting that the others put an implant into Claire the makes her get sick.

So why does nobody wonder, "Why don't we move to the nice houses the Others have abandoned?" Why don't they even mention the compound to the rest of the people at the beach when they get back? This episode revealed stuff, but the total idiocy of the people at the beach makes it hard for me to really get into this at times. The writing requires too many leaps of stupidity to work at times.

Two thought here.

1) Claire had an implant to monitor her while she was carrying, to capture data to find out IF it was cause at conception or if death happens after birth. This was what was done to her in the lab and she was released back into the wild.

2) ANY body that has been put under by the Others could have something implanted in them, even devices to overhear their conversations!

Uh... they just got back mid-way through the episode, had an Other with them, and then Claire got sick. They were a bit distracted. The writers had to cram alot of other stuff into this episode, and discussing moving to the commune was probably a low priority. Also, as was mentioned in last week's thread, would *you* just say "Oh, the Others just got up and left those nice buildings for us. Let's pack up and head over there right away. I'm sure it's perfectly safe."

By the end of the episode, only a few hours have passed since they brought Jack back. Give 'em a moment.

A mediocre and only slightly-annoying episode.

Jack = fricking idiot.
Juliet = still annoying.
Others = still suck.

People trusting Juliet is the height of idiocy. Sayid, Sawyer, and anyone else should simply tear her to shreds to get the necessary information about the island and the Others. The gauntlet was thrown long ago.

And get the hell over to the town, for pete's sake!

However, the fact that they gave us further information about the island (unfortunately through the PoV of crappy Juliet and the sucky Others) was nice, and I very much appreciated it. Those parts were the best part of the episode.
