LOST - 4/11/07 - One of Us (spoilers)

Since people can't have babies on the island and there is (supposedl?y) one more death before the end of the season, will we be saying goodbye to Sun? Or is she another control like Claire?

But no viewer I know of feels compassion for Juliette, no one cares, so it was wasted to make us try to like her or understand her.
Maybe I'm the exception that proves the rule (though I seriously doubt it), but I have compassion for Juliet, and I care. And it was a good trick, not wasted at all.

This episode revealed stuff, but the total idiocy of the people at the beach makes it hard for me to really get into this at times.
The people on the beach aren't idiots; they're just practical, cautious and afraid... very afraid. They've correctly identified themselves as expendable tertiary characters and they've witnessed time and again what happens to tertiary characters who get uppity and who dare to snatch screen-time away from the primary character clique.

Arzt, Nikki, Paolo, Scott (or whatever that guy's name was): lessons learned the hard way. And what about Rose and Bernard? We haven't seen them around lately; is that foul play I smell? Whatever may have befallen them the beach-dwellers know better than to ask anybody in the primary character clique about it; doing so would put them on the very short list of tertiary characters who've spoken a line on the show. No one wants to see their newly determined name on that list. :uhoh:

You're saying he's... the Cobra? :uhoh:

Ah...tsk, tsk. You weren't supposed to figure that out until Season 4. Now I'm afraid the Others will have to visit you in the night, abduct you, and give you a nice implant to keep you from talking.

Seriously, though...maybe Hurley's an underachiever who'd never really done anything of great worth on his own and thus the Others don't have an easy way of manipulating him. Or maybe his 2-3 months on the island have changed him a lot. Maybe that's why the Lostaways haven't had a chance so far against the Others...their actions have been too predictable...standard M.O. according to the files the Others have on them. Maybe Jack's not currently acting stupid....maybe he's trying to manipulate things himself. Time will tell, I guess.

Why? No one I know likes her, they don't find her interesting but they do want to know more about Tom (zeke) and wanted to see more interaction with him.

I don't get the Cobra refrence, expect maybe to G.I. Joe.

I think we are supposed to hate the Others, but the writers are making a mistake by making the Castaways too supine and incompatent and the Others too dynamic and capable. It does not make us - or me at any rate - root for the Castaways even more, it makes me exasperated with everyone in the show and producing the show. Yes, I philosophically understand why Juliet is doing what she is doing. But I want to see those people we've been following for three years, the Castaways, doing something and succeeding for once, rather than being Benry's b****.

Why? I dunno, why do those folks want to know more about TomZeke (who I couldn't care less about)? Just because, I guess. Interesting character, interesting drive. Maybe it's because I appreciate being driven by the knowledge that you can do something great, if only you had the right opportunity? Maybe it's because I think she's cute (though not all that cute). I can't really say, but I suspect that's true of most folks with most characters.

A couple of episodes ago- the Cobra is the bad guy of the tv show Expose that Nikki was playing an extra on. Hurley reads the script and learns that the Cobra (identity revealed in the fourth season script of Expose) was actually the guy that was the leader of the girls on Expose (and played by Billy Dee Williams).

D'Oh! I should have caught that. Man, I would be sooo happy to see Hurley dressing like a 70s pimp.

I think Desond is up for another flash back episode next week, in Catch-22, when "Desmond coaxes Charlie, Hurley and Jin on a trek across the jungle after experiencing one of his future-prophesizing “flashes” -- but is he purposely placing Charlie’s life in harm’s way? Meanwhile, Kate turns to an unwitting Sawyer after seeing Jack alone with Juliet."

Following that, in D.O.C. "After learning that the Others' pregnant woman died before giving birth on the island, Sun allows Juliet to examine her; Desmond allows an unlikely nemesis to help save the life of a new, mysterious island inhabitant. Jin becomes aware of the identity of the father of Sun's baby."

So it will be a couple of episodes at least before the Castaway's shave Juliet's head and make her wear a great big letter "B" on the front of her shirt at all times.
