I don't think it was a full day that went by. Locke brought Boone back to the caves during the day and then Jack sent Kate running to the Beach. After Kate ran across Claire, it got dark very quickly, so I think it was more like late afternoon when Boone got hurt. Remember that he and Locke had been trudging through the jungle for some time already during daylight.

Um, wow. A whole lot of stuff going on!
I'm surprised no one caught Jack's line when Sun tried to stop him... "Don't tell me what I can't do!" Sound familiar?
Also, keep in mind that while Jack's accusing Locke of killing Boone is a little extreme, also keep in mind that there is a growing distrust of Locke and Boone amongst the survivors. There are several mentions by several castaways that they're not bringing back boar. Compound that with Locke's lie to Jack about how the accident occurred, and the fact that had Jack known he might have done things differently (say, by amputating first, though it would do nothing to stop the internal bleeding), and it's not illogical in the least.
Ten bucks says Sayid and Charlie help Jack - the former to avenge Boone for Shannon, the latter to defend Locke if necessary and stumble upon the cache of heroin.

Yup, I caught it!
I also caught just how easily Sawyer gave up all [?] his alcohol, when Kate asked/demanded. That's a change, for him...
As for Boone's death, it was NOT a real tear-jerker, as advertised... I wonder: Have we seen the last of him, or will we be seeing more in Shannon-flashbacks? Personally, I felt no regret at seeing him go...
Oh, and the island has killed at least four, since the season opener. The "Marshall" was first, then the girl swimmer, then the guy killed on the beach, and now Boone. Just in case anyone cares and is keeping track (I exclude the pilot as he was not counted among the survivors).
So, 44, now, or 42?
I think 42, it relates to the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42, which could mean we can be down to 23 next season!Steverooo said:
I am thinking Boone's death is a red hering too, while one of the 14, not the death as advertised. Jack, jumping to the concussion that Boone was murdered is in character, Jack reacts badly and emotionaly to death, stiking out at a target, but on the island, things are instant krama, bad follows good.
Some of the little things I thought were interesting, Jack the doctor and Sun the nurse, Jack is realizing her understanding and knowledge is better than his in day-to-day realities. Kate being trusted to deliver the baby, Jack gave her that trust and he believed in her and I think that will have an impact.
I am also wonder if there are not two forces at work on the island; the island being nature and the other power something artificial. Locke's power to walk was taken away to either to try and stop him from actions OR was his legs taken away to get him to give up Boone.
