LotR (movie): What kind of swords are the Uruk-Hai's?

I think those swords in the movie are pretty darn cool looking. Would they be considered a longsword in D&D terms?

I know they're scimitars in the books.

What do you think?

Longsword. I don't know if the spike at the end of the blade pointing opposite of the edge have any practical use, but I'd probably give it a +1 equipment bonus to Disarm attempt and Climb check.

I would say the equivelant of a kopesh. Longsword stats, but +2 to disarm/trip attacks. Exotic weapon. The spike on the end wont really do any more damage, but would be great for tripping people. Also, change the type of damage to Slashing only, because you couldnt stab with it anymore.

Edit: Why the opposite of MW? The orcs are never described as having poor equipment, it just looks like how an orc wants his weapon to look ... dirty and scary, but is still just as functional as your common weapon.

Good idea on the trip attack benefit, but I still prefer the conservative +1 bonus.

I do agree, they're not poor quality weapons. Despite the cosmetic appearance and they way they mass-produced them, they are still functional weapons of war.
