Basically, a few weeks before RotK, they're going to release the extended editions of FotR and TT--in theaters--in select markets only.

No idea what those markest are, but if it's within a day's drive, I am so there.

Then, the week of Dec. 12, "The Two Towers" will be released, leading up to a worldwide Dec. 16 daylong marathon, during which all three films will be shown back-to-back. The screenings that day will include a 3 p.m. showing of "Fellowship" followed by a 7 p.m. screening of "Two Towers" and then an 11 p.m. screening of "Return of the King," which will carry over into Dec. 17 -- the day of its global release.

Man I hope some theater here in Dallas does this. I will do whatever it takes for me to get off work and talk the wife into letting me do this. 11+ straight hours of LotR. I might be one tired sob the next day but trust me it will be worth it!

Well, from where I'm sitting, the odds of me being within a day's drive are excellent (because if this is really happening, they'll certainly be showing in LA). But if it's not showing somewhere in San Diego, I don't think I'll brave the world's largest traffic parking lot (err, I-5).
