Low Level Combo

Right.
Except when the effects are explicitly defined as cumulative:
There is nothing to accumulate. When identical spells are cast on the same target one effect replaces the other. The effects can't be cumulative because only one can exist at a time. The effect would be cumulative with other fear effects though.

Now combining Fear with the fighter's intimidate check... now that's clever. :D

So it would be cumulative with Scare.

I guess that's a valid interpretation.

But it seems odd.

After all, I could research "Cause Fear 2", which is entirely another spell, with the same effects, and cast it. Then, it would be cumulative.

Odd...

Except your DM would probably rule it to be the same spell.

C'mon, you know what I mean.
You can have a couple of variants on Cause Fear, all of them 1st level, and use the combo.

Such as a 1st level spell that Shakens you for 1 round per level. With the same Save: Will (partial) as Cause Fear.

Damn it... there go my plans for Ray of Enfeeblement 2, Ray of Enfeeblement II, and Ray of Feeblisation...
