Low-level party against a warlock - help!

Blindness :( (way to go, targetted dispell works wonders as well. And as a single warlock just toast it with ranged weapons. Everyone in my current party carries a composite longbow for the the fighter and barb, a shortbow for the rogue and spells for the rest. Helped us loads of times.)

This isn't actually a problem in my game because the only warlock is a party member. But trying to see things from our opponents' point of view, how does a lowish-level party, i.e. up to 5th level, beat a warlock.

It seems that there's no low-level magic to counter the very powerful eldritch blast and while the warlock remains spider-climbing on the ceiling it isn't easy to get him except with missile weapons.

Suggestions?

How high is the ceiling?

A normal human with a greatsword can hit a 15' high ceiling, and most dungeons are not that high. A halberd can take that to 20'. A quarterstaff could be used by a monk to pole-vault up and grapple. Thrown weapons could easily reach the warlock (there is a reason for arming your guards with spears, aside from the economy) - a dozen thrown spears will turn your warlock into a pin-cushion. Those two-dozen goblins with javelins stop looking so silly with this in mind ...

Thats without any magic or monsters. Pop a roper on the ceiling, add a giant spider or two or three. A psionic character with the feat that lets you run up walls and ceilings a la The Matrix. Use a dispell as recomended, but don't just sit there and take it!

Where are you getting this? A greatsword weilded by a medium sized human has a 5' reach (as would a rock on a stick :p ) as would a halberd since it doesn't offer reach.

I want your 20' reach halberd! Where do I find one?

He's considering a medium size character occupies a 5'x5'x10' tall square (I know I can touch a 10' cieling). I'm not sure that's core, but seems reasonable considering I don't occupy a 5'x5' square, but would require approximatly that much space to fight effectively with a medium weapon. So it's the rule I'd use unless it is specified otherwise.

With that assumption, a 5' reach weapon would then attack up to 15' cieling, or a 10' reach halberd would reach a 20' cieling. I'm not sure about the mechanics of the warlock's spider climb, but assuming it leaves hands free, he would also be hanging down 10', in which case a 10' reach polarm would hit a medium size creature 'standing' on a 30' cieling. If it's like the spider climb spell, it requires holding onto the cieling with your hands, where it would be more like crouching or up-side-down prone, which is where he gets attacking someone flat against the 25' cieling.
