[LPF] Into the Wilds Part 1

Despite the logical conclusion that the gnaw marks were probably just from rats, Regar begins to imagine something more. A transmutation spell of such horror, it would likely be associated with something worse that necromancy! A transmutation spell that turns people into rats... No! Rat swarms! And then driven crazy by such a transformation, the swarm wouldst attack itself! Rat tearing at rat, a horrific squeaking mess- Oh who was he kidding, his imagination was getting carried away.

"Well, i'm done here. Maybe we should move on? Kill some more stinky goblins or some giant bats perhaps...." Regar pauses. "Or, befriend the bats! Yeah, then WE could have flying bat mounts... No wait... Never mind, i'm afraid of heights." With that, Regar stands at the exit, ready to continue and continues his mapping process.

Without being able to find an easy or safe way to learn more about the mysteries about this room, the party slips back to the previous chamber with the two dead goblin guards and looks upon the westward wooden rope bridge that rises onto a platform dotted with goblin huts. It looks easy enough to traverse, though you will be exposed to any observers as you cross.

OOC: I'll update after giving everyone time to make preparations. Every now and then you see a goblin cross from hut to hut, so you know you'll likely run into resistance when you hit the other side.

[section]
Peering up at the huts, Snorri changed back to his crossbow and leaned forward to the group, whispering "What'll be the plan? May e'en be a changing guard do." Hushing as a goblin walked from one hut to another, his crossbow raised, his eyes steeled in determination as he reluctantly let the goblin leave his sights.
Interrupting the elf wizard scribbling his map, "what trick ya got in that book, lad, to get us up there?"

Kepli Stormborn

Kepli stood next to Snorri and looked across the bridge at the goblin huts. She frowned and shook her head.

"Do you think the bridge is trapped to collapse, or anything like that? I have to say, I think rushing across and hitting them before they can mobilize a defense is our best option. This standing around just gets me jittery. And Scuttle doesn't like it either."

Hearing his name the seagull shrieked and flapped his wings in preparation to take off. Kepli winced at the noise.

"Maybe some archers should stay back and be ready to pelt goblins with missiles while some of us advance across the bridge. I've a sling but I'm not much good with it."

Regar nods at Kepli. "Agreed. Stealth may be our ally here. The bridge is a strategic strong point to them, so the plan would have to involve not allowing them to use it too much to their advantage. I'm sorry guys, but i'm out of featherfall spells..." He looks down below with an unpleasant look of dizzyness.

He takes a deep breath, "Maybe we get one person, whoever is best in the art of stealth, to get across with a length of rope. We could then use it as a safety line orrrr...." Regar hesitated before continuing. "I could go over there and summon a creature opposite us for the goblins to focus on. It would be a 10 to 12 second distraction at best, but that may be enough for everybody to get across all at once. Maybe people would be ok with it so long as i take the safety line along to tie..."

Regar re-adjusts his hat nervously as he awaits a response.

Maenor Thandgur

[section]

Maenor stretches lazily as the others quietly discuss their plans. "Perhaps Brog and myself could skulk across the bridge unnoticed and secure a foothold?" His suggestion comes with his usual languid, disinterested tone, as if is is nearly oblivious to the risky nature of their situation.

OOC: There is not really a good place to toss a rope and try to shimmy across from a different angle. I'm ready to move this along tomorrow with Maenor and Brog sneaking across to gain a foothold if no one else has a better idea by tomorrow. Archers can follow behind them if anyone wants to volunteer. Otherwise I'll just go with a slightly modified marching order.

Snorri Ironaxe

[section]
The stonelord cracked a smile and contained a chuckle at the notion of the wizard's idea, "Naye, lad, bit dangerous, let's let the sneakers sneak."
"Ah'll wake the whole village starting up tha...ne'er been a one for sneakin." Snorri kneels down, setting his crossbow beside him, he begins scratching a rude diagram of their surroundings in the dirt floor, hastily explaining dwarven tactics to the others. Looking at the kensai and ranger, "If'n ya both can make for the other side unnoticed, we lot will begin across, a safe distance behind ye." hefting his crossbow up, "I've this to distract 'em if needs."

Brog and Maenor begin to skulk forward, with the rest of the party still waiting in the cavern with the two goblin corpses. Halfway through, they notice three sentries talking in the midst of the goblin huts. Brog and Maenor are out in the open and work hard not to make any sudden moves which would reveal themselves to the enemy.

OOC: Brog and Maenor, make a DC Stealth check. Goblin Perception Check: [roll0]
