Pathfinder 1E [LPF] Memories of the Past

Zinnelis Laediril, Elven Ranger (Level 1)

Kingsholm/Coronet and Cabbage Inn

Zinnelis finished settling the horses in the stable and getting them fed and watered and brushed down, with the help of the stable boy. Returning to the others in the inn, he told the innkeeper, “Some good food and good rooms is all we need, thank you.”

As they were left alone to settle in the common room, Zinn turned to Arradon, since he seemed to know the Harran well. “Are we safe enough here in the inn, or should we keep someone on watch here in the public room tonight?”

[section]Autumn Foxfire - Natural Mystic

Autumn settles into the inn with the others. "I-I-I think keeping someone on watch is a g-good idea.... I can take first watch. Aelspeth and Levanna, would you guys like to share a room?" She lowers her voice. "Where should we k-keep the H-h-heart? Etan, c-can we use any of its power to help keep it safe?"

Arradon Delgaran

[section]

Arradon looks around the room briefly before answering, "I would advise watch to be taken in pairs, a lone sentry is an easy mark. When they come, it won't be through the front door, too obvious. They prefer to do things with more... finesse shall we say." He seems to think to himself for a moment. They're not above poison either, but I'd best not cause alarm just yet.

Zinnelis Laediril, Elven Ranger (Level 1)

Kingsholm/Coronet and Cabbage Inn

Zinnelis settled down with the others, setting into the food that was brought.

“I agree with Arradon,” he said. “I will remain up with Autumn for first watch, as well.” He turned to Arradon. “Where do you think they will come from, then?” he inquired. “You seem to know their ways.”

[section]"Hmm. Three to a room may get crowded. I could get one for myself and share it with Etan," Levanna suggested.

She took a seat with her companions. As the weariness of the road melted away, she sighed and began to eat.

"Unfortunately I would require several hours of interrupted sleep to help restore my magical energies. And I am afraid I would make a poor guard as a novice wizard... Levanna confessed when the conversation turned toward watch duties. "But if needed I would be willing to take the first or last watch."

Kingsholm/The Coronet and Cabbage inn

Ian Turbrand, proprietor of the Coronet and Cabbage inn, is able to provide rooms, one for Autumn, Aelspeth, and Levanna, and one for Rak'tan, Zinnelis, and Arradon. Any not satisfied with that arrangement can sleep in the common room, the stable, or acquire a much smaller, private room for just a few silver extra. Etan, with apologies to Levanna, chooses to stick close to Rak'tan. With a watch arranged, the group settles in for an evening at the inn.

The common room of the Coronet and Cabbage becomes much busier after sundown when the villagers finish their days' work. They stream in, chatting amongst each other with the familiar jocularity of people who have known each other their entire lives. They greet the group in various ways: short waves, nods, grins, and flirty winks. They are clearly a people used to strangers in their midst and talk readily if any seem willing. However, the evening passes into night and the villagers, singly and in small groups, leave the inn for their own homes. There are a few other travelers staying at the inn but they all eventually retreat to their rooms.

Night passes and the dawn brings the smell of breakfast wafting from the kitchen.

[sblock=Gather Info on the ghostly spirit, Diplomacy DC 10]All the locals are familiar and quite proud of their legendary cemetery. Even so, they seem reluctant to speak of it until later in the evening and the wine and beer has flowed a bit. Then, a few admit that there is something unnerving going on, something that they don't understand, and strange howls in the night. Because of this, they have begun avoiding the cemetery except on the brightest days. One young farmer claims he saw a ghost, that he was passing by the cemetery and saw what he thought was a stranger who ignored his call. He followed but lost the stranger. As he stood in confusion the stranger passed through him like a ghost, gave him a chill like winter, and then it turned and spoke of blood. Terrified, the farmer ran off. The only other thing he can say is that the stranger looked like a warrior in ancient garb.[/sblock]

Zinnelis Laediril, Elven Ranger (Level 1)

Kingsholm/Coronet and Cabbage Inn

The night passed uneventfully, and Zinnelis was up with the dawn sun, sitting to breakfast in the common room and awaiting his companions. Few were here at this hour, and the solitary ranger enjoyed the quiet, listening to the awakening bustle of the town outside the window, the clink of crockery in the kitchen, as he sipped his morning ale and ate a bit of bread and cheese and porridge.

[section]Autumn Foxfire - Natural Mystic

Autumn wakes up with the sun and begins to inspect the Heart of the Lady, silently trying to figure out exactly what it is. Noticing the others still sleeping, she nudges them awake before taking her morning meditation outside. She goes outside, aimlessly meandering around while she admires the beautiful simplicities of nature. A good hour or so later, she comes back in for breakfast. She takes seat next to Zinnelis and enjoys a plain meal. As she satiates herself for the day, she passively listens to all of the surrounding conversation, and puts any tidbits of knowledge together with anything she may have heard last night. She waits for the others to arise before offering any of her own insight.

The Coronet and Cabbage Inn

Autumn studies the strange stone, the Lady's Heart, that Etan Greenwing shoved into her hands the previous afternoon. The stone fits in the palm of her hand, perhaps a bit smaller than a real heart. It is green, and knobbed, like bubbles frozen in stone. As she traces the edges of the knobs with eye and finger Autumn invokes her magic sight. The thing isn't magical but Autumn can't help but feel that Etan is right: there is power within the stone.

Moving on to other things, Autumn performs her meditations and studies the signs for the day's weather. There is a bit of a chill to the air this morning but she is certain it will warm up nicely by mid-day but with clouds and a light breeze. Much the same, but clear skies, for the morrow.
---

Zinnelis, sitting in the common room of the Coronet and Cabbage inn feels the presence of something unseen near him. There is a quiet noise, like something clearing its throat, and he realizes Etan Greenwing has invoked some sort of fey invisibility and sits next to him. Autumn, and the others, join them at their own time.

GM: Ok, you have a job, and a complication. What do you do?
