Aided with the help of her new glasses, Autumn peers across the road and her eyes are immediately drawn to the rose tattoe of the speaking elf. Her mind is flooded of memories of the kyton shredding Arradon's arm, and memories of her past. She hadn't let on to her friend that she knows all about the Thorn, but there is no escaping her childhood.... the constant running and hiding. She refocuses on the present situation, and decides on a new course of action. Sad with the understanding that her words are of no use, she keeps silent and lets the others do the talking. Although she keeps her arrow drawn, Autumn mentally prepares a spell of obfuscation ready to cast as soon as soon as anything approaches with hostility. This should buy some time while things get sorted out.

Aelspeth Noromiel, Novice Conjurer

Aelspeth bookmarks her current page with a thin silk ribbon, closes her spellbook, and stows it in her magic bag. She looks around, taking in the scene from atop Kasmir (her palomino horse).

Darwin hears the tension in those voices that carry across the hundred-foot length of road where the party sits surrounded and he pokes his head out from the sash where he had been napping. He gets the sense that the newcomer elf and the hounds mean his mistress no immediate harm but that they would be all too willing to inflict it. He looks directly at one of the beasts and draws his lips back to bare his teeth meaningfully.

Feeling Darwin's unease through their empathic link, Aelspeth smiles wanly and thinks reassuring thoughts. She half turns her head to mumble over her shoulder, "Don't worry, Darwin. We have Arradon, Rak'Tan, and Autumn with us. Plus the woodsman and the wizard whom we just met."

Aelspeth assesses Zinnelis to have the verbal interaction well under control for the time being. Levanna has eyes on the fey and, she is quite confident, Autumn is nervously watching the ring of hounds for any signs of hostility. She is further confident that Arradon has knives in his hands somewhere beneath that cloak and that Rak'Tan's massive sword would find the red man's hand in short order.

The elf woman whispers, "Fakir," and gestures as if she were blowing a kiss to no one in particular. A stream of iridescent bubbles issues forth from between her lips. Those bubbles then float errantly toward Autumn. A little reminder of better living through magic for the uncertain woman--and an appetizer to moisten Aelspeth's lips. She gets chills thinking about casting some of her stronger defensive magics.

The elf glanced briefly at Rak’tan then back to Zinnelis. A smile curled at the edge of his mouth as he relaxed with confidence he would get what he wanted as Zinnelis made overtures.

”I am Raellynn of the Harran. That one…” He pointed towards the pixie. ”That one stole a relic of the Harran Forest from the Verdant Prince. I was sent to retrieve the relic and dispense justice but I can be merciful; I would settle for return of the relic. This is not a human matter, their laws hold no sway in this, nor could they conceive of the importance that this relic has to my lord.”

”Lies!” hissed the pixie barely loud enough for Levanna to hear. [color=#66f99]”I’ve stolen nothing. He wishes to steal the Lady’s Heart from me and take power from her successor.”[/color]

Raellynn doesn’t seem to have heard the pixie, nor does he seem to take note of Arradon shying away from him. For now, Arradon’s identity is safe. Raellynn makes a motion with one hand as if to indicate acceptance of Zinnelis’ comment.

”No violence; just return what belongs to the Verdant Prince.”

For the moment, the hounds pace, held back by some secret command from Raellynn.
