Pathfinder 1E [LPF] Perception is Reality

[sblock=OOC] Since we are already in the temple district I figure checking out the other two temples before leaving to go somewhere else is logical. A god of trickery and a god of family... just in case we have some pied piper of Hamlin background plot going on. Then we can go take a look from the top of the hill. [/sblock]

Maui lead the way to th shadowy temple, Taniwha close behind.

Lamar bids the group farewell as they head off to the other substantial temple, that of Amenthia. However, it is quickly discovered that there is no entering the building, which is heavily darkened in shadow. The entire structure seems to be solid, with no detail whatsoever. In fact, the obvious unreal nature of it becomes obvious when you get to the edge of the yard which separates the road from the temple.

Looking at the solid structure, Ethane wrinkles his nose. "Well... it's about the right shape. That's about it, really."

Looking back at the group, the warpriest steps back towards the road, clearly on edge. "Tritower has become like an unfinished painting. At most you see sketch lines of what the artist might be doing at a later time."

Listening to what Ethane is saying, Vincenzo does a spin around at the building in the street and suddenly realizes how accurate the description of the town being just a sketch of what it formerly was, "I nw see this. you are so right. who - how - why would this be done?

Barlo shook his head, "No idea who or how. The why they did it, might be to hide what's really going on."

"So far, no ghouls or flying giants either."


Looking back towards the temple they just left he adds, "I wonder it that was the key to all of this, or just a weird exception. Even if we do go back to chat more with Lamar, I am at a loss right now on what to ask him. Mayhap we should keep exploring to see if there is more to see than just black and white illusionary buildings."

After sniffing around the darkness of the temple Maui pads back to the others. Somewhat bewildered by their surroundings the druid seems to lose some impetus, simply waiting for the group to head somewhere else and tagging along at their sides, with Taniwha (tail swishing) not far behind.

Watching Maui and listening to the others, Ethane hefts his spear and points up to the top of the hill where the first tower stands. "That would be one possibility, Barlo. Also there must be others, judging from the lighting in the distance, although it may take a bit more work to locate, since they are not elevated for a direct line of sight." His hand waves across the rest of the town to generally illustrate his point.

Looking across Tritower, about a half dozen pillars of light can be seen, at varying intensities. As Ethane said, it seems possible to head to one by keeping an eye on the pillar. Otherwise, the town seems bleak, featureless and deserted. The longer you are there, the more the silence becomes overbearing.

[sblock=Lighting]The general idea is the lit areas have this 'pillar of light' effect. It's a bit like a spotlight shining down from above on a foggy night--you can make them out from a distance. However, since you've been in one of said areas, you already know that, once there, the light itself is not directional. I may not have been clear enough about this previously, but hope that this helps give you a better idea of what your characters are viewing.

Barlo nodded at the suggestion, "Aye, we might as well see what is at the other lighted up areas. Trying to investigate the shadowy parts of the city has proven to not be possible."

He nodded for the feline shifted druid and his companion to lead the way.

Maui pads off with Taniwha close behind, heading up the aforementioned hill where they could get a proper view of Tritower in its entireity. Perhaps the location of the points of light had some type of pattern that they might see only from above.

With Maui and Taniwha leading the way, the rest of the group follows along, heading up the hill that would give a great view of the city. And, of course, the illumination streaming down from above onto the old tower also makes it a meaningful destination. As you draw closer, it starts to become apparent that a building close to the tower is actually the illuminated area.

Taking note of the fact, Ethane speaks up, "Ah, that's close to an inn, the Clockwork Boar. We'll know when we get there. Nice place, run by gnomes and popular with the Merfolk. Perhaps you've been there."

However, before anyone can answer Ethane's question, a shadow in the shadows... moves. About 50 yards up and to the right. But when people look again, it's not there, as if it slipped back between the formless buildings or, perhaps, was never there in the first place.

[sblock=The Clockwork Boar]It's a pretty nice place, and anyone that's been to Tritower has probably heard of it, if not been there.[/sblock]

He kept his eyes open for a return of that possible shadow moving around.
