Pathfinder 1E [LPF] The Haven

As Pirvinia asks about the nature of the footprints, Far'zeil returns, emerging from the level 2 passageway on the north wall, as had been suspected. It becomes obvious that the upper level latticework provides access to the two level 2 exits, one on the south side of the east wall (G), and one on the south side of the west wall (F).

Meanwhile, Samad continues to sneak down the stairs (E), zeroing in on the source of the sound he previously head. The stairs end and the passageway levels out, and he arrives at the intersection. A quick listen tells him the sound he seeks is straight ahead, and it increasingly seems that it might be muttered words of some sort. Although he is not taking either option, both the north and south spars have more stairs downward. Ahead, he can see the passageway ends in a T intersection, with another spar heading north, another heading south, and a door straight ahead, slightly ajar. Samad suspects the sound he is hunting is beyond the door.

Behind Samad a good forty feet follows Thad, navigating the stairs and trying not to be detected as best he can. Although the stairs present some difficulty, the serpent moves with practiced silent ease, taking it one step at a time.

Samad knew he should go and tell the others, but, wouldn't it be better to know exactly whom they might have to encounter? He crept along the passageway, quickly glancing down both ends of the corridor, moved across the hall and stood against the threshold, looking to see what lay beyond. A short, simple incantation flashed through his mind, ready to escape his lips at a moment's notice lest he somehow be found.

The Diner

Samad peeks into the room, and finds it o be a rather large room, some eighty feet wide and fifty feet deep. Judging from the appointments, it seems to be some sort of dining area, with multiple long tables and a number of heavy, high back chairs. The back left (north-east) corner of the room seems to have a set of stairs headed downward into another area, but it has been largely collapsed in some sort of cave in. The back right (south-east) corner seems to contain a kitchen, separated from the rest of the room by a counter. The sound seems to come from behind the counter, and additionally, Samad can hear another noise past what seems to be muttered language--there is a soft, rhythmic clinking sound that he starts to become aware of.

About this time, Thad catches up to Samad. Although initially somewhat a surprise, the elf keeps his cool and realizes the snake to be the Thuvian's familiar. Thad seems curious about what is going on as well.

Pirvinia gestured for Far’ziel to come back down, the mephit coming straight from the upper level through the open area instead of returning through the passage.

The sorceress commented, “Good work, my friend. As I thought, that is how one gets between the levels. So we have two exits to explore from here and Samad has already gone off down one of them. Shall we follow after or await his return?”

While the others are deciding, she sent Far’ziel to fly after the elven archer regardless.

Samad was caught off guard by his new guest. This must be the djinn-kind's pet? While he was not familiar with either of them, he trusted that they bore no ill intentions despite their frightful appearances. Weighing his options, he picked up the viper and let it coil around his arm, that they could make a quicker escape if need be, before moving into the room and peering over the counter.

Tsaaruk thinks on Pirvinia's question a moment. If they follow they may give away his position or somehow put him in danger. If he is already in danger he may be in need of them. Not one to sit and wait overmuch his patience already wearing on him he thinks they must move forward. He looks toward the opening Samad had taken. "Perhaps we should follow the elf's path. We do not know what has befallen him."

Jonas shakes his head slightly, the faraway look leaving his eyes as he turns to Pirvinia. "Apologies, m'lady. I seem to have gotten distracted..." He bows slightly, his courtly mannerisms at odds with his bestial appearance. "My presumption is that the exits where the dust is thicker have not been used as recently as the others."

He goes on to answer the other pressing question. "I believe we should follow. They've been gone for some little while now, and should have returned to let us know what they've found."

"Yes, we should probably go see what our good friend and my familiar have managed to get themselves into. I am starting to get vibes from Thad that usually suggest he's about to get himself into trouble. First, though, we should probably prepare a spell or two just in case." Thuvian quickly casts Protection from Evil before moving off and attempting to be as stealthy as possible.

Pirvinia still was not sure which passages Jonas was referring to since dust was everywhere. But the decision was to move on after the elven archer and their familiars.

She did not cast any spells and asked, “Why are you preparing for battle? Did you sense danger from your little friend or something?”

So far, Pirvinia had not felt anything troubling via the empathetic link between herself and Far'ziel.
