OOC: Sorry, misread the character sheet. Cockatrice barely missed Leira. Initiative is being handled by a group average, and the group's was one point lower than the cockatrice.

Francis John can move without creating an attack of opportunity as it is only Leira engaged with the cockatrice at this time.

Aelspeth Noromiel, Fledgling Conjurer

Terrified of the calcification properties in the cockatrice's saliva, Aelspeth moves rapidly to the side, hopping up onto some dead sailor's bed with the feeble hope that she can dodge to either side if the monstrosity approaches. A fleeting thought crosses her mind: The illustration in Brother Lafavre's A Collection of Creature's Most Foul made it seem so much smaller! As her companions explode into action around her, she shouts over it all, "Everyone stand clear and shield your eyes!"

Francis John moves to the far side of the room safely, though he has to hop over a flipped cot to do it. Arradon sidles around the cockatrice and gets into flanking position with his dagger. Aelspeth casts her Color Spray at the cockatrice, stunning it temporarily.

Aelspeth Noromiel, Fledgling Conjurer

The wizard reaches beneath her cloak, into her component pouch, to produce a tiny vial of multicolored sand. She throws it to the floor, where it shatters with an otherworldly crunch not warranted by its size. The sand explodes upward into the air to form a bizarre, swirling smoke. As Aelspeth moves her arms through the air in fluid sweeps and dives, the colored smoke swirls and whorls around her hands. Completing the somatic element of the spell, she speaks, "Qe frivina ini kluchuduun" and thrusts one rigid hand out before her, palm forward. The polychrome cloud flashes between Aelspeth's companions with some inexplicable light from within, surrounding the cockatrice for an instant, and then disappearing altogether. The air in the hold feels energized and smells of ozone following the elf's casting.

Tamarie the Songweaver
From behind Aelspeth comes a voice, carrying musical words of magic. Working through a sequence of celestial words with varying pitch and tone, Tamarie marries song and spell into a single entity once again as she traces a wolf's head in the air using orange and yellow energy. As the drawing completes, the image bursts into flame and two miniature wolves of similar energy materialize and fly unerringly towards the destructive little bird, howling all the way and bursting into flame as they impact.
