Luke vs Vader.

I think that when Vader was still Anakin Skywalker he was more powerful than any Jedi (including Luke). Once he suffered the injuries that placed him into his armour his powers were greatly diminished (although he was still very strong in the Force).

This comes from the old Marvel comic book series and bits and pieces from the novels so I doubt its 'gospel' ;)

Feel free to stomp on and poke holes in this 'theory' (lame as it is)

Arent you assuming that Anakin was the Chosen One?

The Chosen one is the person who brings balance to the Force. You could argue either way that it was Anakin or Luke. Anakin as Vader killed the Emperor, it was Luke's actions that caused him to do it.

Or was it Anakin's act of fathering Luke,as well as killing the emporor,so either way no Anakin no balance.

Might I also point out that most likely his turn to the dark side was also nessesary to return the balance. The jedi had become complacent after all even mighty Yoda didn't know that Palpatine was also the Sith Lord, and a purge was nessassry to return them to the way they were meant to be.I think Qui-don Jinn was the way jedi were meant to be.

It will be interesting to see how they deal with Yoda's failure in episode III yet still make him wise. Surely he will cringe when he finds out the truth about Palpatine.

It will be interesting to see how he exiles himself. It would seem that the Emperor would know he was out there somewhere and do his best to hunt him down.

Or maybe he thinks that Yoda is irrelevant. It seems that appearing as a Force Ghost is a rather new ability and thus the Emperor does not realize that it could be used to to teach Luke.

I agree though that Qui Gon was the last of the true and proper Jedi. Which to me suggests then that the Emperor should not feel too bad losing Maul. He traded an easy to replace apprentice for one of the few remaining Jedi who truly understood and could have been a danger to him.

At the same time this means that Obi-wan was no better than the rest of the Jedi. Tradition meant more to him than what was right.

I think yoda can hide just as well as the emperor/palpatine is hiding himself ...

... some one has to do a number on the jedi database (find dagobah, erase memory ... hey where's that yoda guy?) ... someone might have to sacrifice themselves to help yoda escape too ..

Dagobah is a world teaming with life which might help yoda hide. Keep. Keep in mind That Only Palatine and Vader/Anakin would even have the power to find him and as powerful as they are two people would have a very difficult time.Perhaps as they were flying about the galaxy they might have kept their senses tuned but all the life on Dagobah would have camofluaged him.But as time passed they probably cared less and less about him if they even knew he was still alive after all the jedi's true secret was the twins.

The thing I wonder the most about however is how much of the truth Anakin/Vader knows not about Yoda but about Luke (and Obi-wan's) presence on Tattooine with his own step-family Using his own name.Isn't that sort of hiding out in the open. Did Vader know the truth And choose not to tell the emporor or maybe the emporor did know and didn't care or wanted to keep the child alive as a possible future apprentice. Both Vader and emporer Palpatine did seem to know about Luke. Its leia the the jedi kept secret.

As for somebody sacrificing himself to save Yoda my guess is Mace Windu the two seem inseparable.(also Samual L Jackson was promised a heroic end.)
