Found something similar to your description Shayuri, although it lacks the large coat.

I will be updating in a bit... but before I do, let me take the time and post this relevant image.

Yes, "Lifters" are based on the visual aesthetic of the Aliens exosuits.

The error is this: You can not improve the base toughness of the mecha.

So the line should really read as: Toughness 7 (plus 2 chassis Toughness, +5 imp armor, immune to crits)
which means that the beast's point cost should be two "mecha points" less then it currently written.

Also, remember all attacks against a mecha are against the mecha itself, and not the pilot (assuming you do not have an exposed cockpit, power armor, and assuming there was no critical hit). Considering that Beast is immune to critical hits, you don't ever have to worry about Deezy getting hit while piloting it.

My bad. Those two 'spare' mech points can be spent on additional (non-impervious) armor, so the net result is pretty close to the same.

Or, I could spend it on another point of impervious armor, to get Toughness +8 (6 Impervious).

Hmm. Lemme re-read the rules on Impervious...

As for the note on critical hits and what takes damage, yes, that was intentional. The Great Metal Beast is built to last, and the vital systems are reinforced and redundant. The pilot compartments are armored.

Moving this over from the IC thread.

(OOC - Remember that machines can Run indefinitely
18 MPH then? Since the crawlers are able to do 40 MPH, depending on load, is there a problem with Deezy and the Beast riding the heavy crawler until we get to terrain that slows us down to 18 MPH or less? Just one square of difficult terrain to get off, I would think -- unless you decide to Jump clean off, of course. Accompanied by a symphony of popping chains and breaking straps. ;)

The only "airship" that is available is essentially is a roto-dyne with it's autorotation propeller replaced with a aether burner and is attached to a hot-air balloon. (speed 4). Unfortunately it's a pretty bare bones as aircraft goes due to it being something a scavenger built.
Pretty much what I had in mind, execpt I was seeing a permenantly inflated football-shaped bag instead of a hot air balloon -- the whole thing unpowered, just dragged behind the main crawler. Sort of an extremely tall crows nest... How do you want to build the thing though? Should I pay for it with PPs or EPs?

Compasses exist same with astrolabes. Sadly, Lord Burroughmaster forgot about issuing them for the caravan. .
CAN we get one of the astrolabes? Obviously Seif spotted the oversight.

Grr.... I seem to have found a major drawback with posting/editing posts using my droid via tapatalk.

It lost large sections of the post I did. Rewriting all I wrote is going to be a pain in the arse.

Anyways..

There shouldn't be any problems with them the mechs riding the heavy crawler.

Yes u can use a dirgable styled gas bag and the astrolabe. Buy both using ep.

Binder, remember that running is 4x base speed. So the mecha should be able to go 36mph flat out. Not far behind the crawler speed.

The exosuits might not be able to maintain that speed...not sure if the wearer uses any of their own strength for that or not. They're Large though, so perhaps not...

Alright here is the reassembled OOC post from IC..

AIRSHIP: I will re-allocate one or two points into, say Danger sense UbO, PD Bulky (tied to the caravan), Easy to Loose device (Shoot down the dirigeable)? If anybody wants to contribute a point or two as well, that would make it all the better, maybe all the way to an array with Precognition(Sight) even. Hint, hint. :D

Does that work for you , Relique? If not I don't mind saying he found nothing available.[/Sblock]

Communication? Are these standard radios or aether radios or equivalent?
All radios are based on pre-1980s technology. The trucks have standard "cb styled" analogue radios. Max range is about 150 miles since there are few analogue radio repeater-stations. However, you can extend this range (to a few thousand miles) via various real world methods using a Knowledge: Technology roll.

Will they (all) reach all the way back to Victoria Town?
See above.

What about Deezy’s version?
Deezy's radio, as well as other pieces of advanced "ancient" technology uses digital radio with GHz frequencies (Modern real life tech if not more advanced). These can potentially have global reach by piggy backing on repeater satellites. Doing this requires a Use Computers and Knowledge:Technology roll.

Compasses (or equivalent for Mars?).
Damn science and its insistence that Mars has not magnetosphere! Yes, compasses exist and work on mars.

I’m not even going to ask about GPS tech. ;)
GPS tech is advanced "ancient" technology... therefore it is very rare. It should be noted that it is since not all geosynchronous satellites function, GPS coverage tends to be very spotty.

If compass-equivalents exist (astrolabes maybe?), have one associated with each topo map. (Hmmm. Rather like the idea of navigating by the stars/sun position, now that I think about it :) will need a precision watch in that case though, maybe built into the astrolabe(s)?).
Hmm.. a clock-work astrolabe? That sounds retro-punk enough to exist. :D

Can we get a front-mounted winch on the two medium crawlers?
Yes you can. :)

OOC: Sahid has Master Plan feat, and knowledge tactics, I wanted to formulate plans for ambushes and the like, to gain the benefits of Master plan in advance.
Aright, I will allow that. :D

Maybe we could have a lifter in each of the medium crawler and the Beast in the Heavy? Assuming some sort of open cargo platform, of course.
Yes, they have an open cargo platform.

(the Beast has Direction Sense, which I believe is essentially a compass, yes?)
Yes, it is essentially a compass.

The exosuits might not be able to maintain that speed...not sure if the wearer uses any of their own strength for that or not. They're Large though, so perhaps not...

Functionality wise, the exosuits are essentially over-sized power armor so the wearer would be subject to some fatigue with prolonged usage.

Assuming that James managed to sort everything out, I would like to buy the following things:

- a "standard desert survival kit" including water canteens, proper clothing etc. (although James doesn't need it, he doesn't know it yet. He was never exposed to those conditions he is now immune to :) )
- a large calibre hunting rifle (think Elephant gun)
- a large calibre revolver (something along the lines of the .454 Webley)
- hunting knife

Is that acceptable?
