[M&M2e] Red Sands Chronicles

"You are lying." states Sahid dryly. He then takes Seif with him. "Better throw the device in the sand, who knows what other lies has she told us about it. It might be a bomb of sorts, or a communication device. Or both. If we leave it in the sand, not it will only misguide her allies, it will explode harmlessly in the sand if it is really a bomb."

Shocked, Rasputina called out. "The only thing that works on that relic is the clock and no one knows how to make the rest of it work."

She fooled no one.
“Then the nice men will get it fixed for you.” A breath of power there, enjoyment in domination. Which was fine in moderation.

Seif glanced back, to see her reaction to those words...

«Reaction Rasputina?

“It would be a very small bomb,” he replied after a pause, looking back to the sorceror. “I advise, Ottoman: things thrown away never come back,” a flash of the eyes, (pointed amusement? 'Friendly' challenge?): “and a wise man can use all things to his advantage. I ask this of you.”

[sblock=OOC]That said, Seif *will* throw away the watch if Sahid does not allow.[/sblock]

"Why don't you ask Burroughmeister. "
She said defiantly. "He's the ringleader of the merchant's revolt, and it was his incompetent hasty decision to bypass Union protocols when authorizing that caravan that lead to it becoming stranded. Incompetent decisions like that was why the Great Martian Union was established. Without our order, Victoria Town would suffer the same fate as Elysium."
Nothing from the Ottoman, who for the moment seemed satisfied to cross his arms and watch her/the both of them... So Seif settled on his knees and replied: “Because then HE will convince us, turn us against the Union?”

Lady Rasputina glared at her captors.

“It would be a very small bomb,”

"It's not a bomb. If it were do you think you would still be alive?" Resorting back to misdirection, she continued. "If it were a communication device or some kind of locationor then why wasn't I rescued by my brothers and sisters in the Union? I was not because its just a family heirloom, and nothing more. So you can't throw it away. It means to much."
Lady Rasputina1d20+6=7
Seif sense motive: 1d20+1=20 vs 7 --> Seif successful
Sahid sense motive:1d20+1=2 vs 7 --> Lady Rasputina Successful.

Sahid seems to fall for Lady Rasputina's Bluff; however Seif remembers that the device was set to the off position so he isn't easily fooled.
OOC: I like Seif's next statement from Bind Fred's post as being the response to the sense motive check since it's so cryptic it work no matter how its taken.

“Because then HE will convince us, turn us against the Union?”

Knowing she had lost, Lady Rasputina grimaces and eyes Seif with utter contempt.

If we stick to the canyons and don't go near the main trade routes we should be out of the patrols' perimeter when we get about 150 miles away. Aeaxeos radios to Deezy, Brian and the Lord.

If they haven't changed the patrol schedules out here too we should have some hours until the next one.

Sahid replies "You wanted to track us down the whole way, that's why they didn't attempt to rescue you yet." he looks at Seif. "Very well, I'll take it to the girl, she surely can tell us about it's functions." Before departing, the Ottoman looks back at Seif. "Look out, this woman is more dangerous with her words than with her guns."

"Ya know," Deezy commented. "If those flyers need to save fuel for a return trip, they can only be out here for two or three hours. If the next patrol's not out here right away, there'll be a gap in their coverage at that time."

She scowled at the rock walls of the canyon.

"Course, it'd mean waiting a bit to see. Kinda boring."

He is slightly annoyed though, and glares at the woman: "You aren't helping... I advise, Ottoman" [etc]

Uh.... I wasn't trying to be cryptic though. Sahid wanted to throw away the bracelet so Seif basically said: "You're throwing away a possible advantage. If you're wise, you will see this and act accordingly. If that's not enough, then I'm asking you *not* to throw it away as a personnal favor" (AKA I'll owe you one).

I *am* trying to suggest a cultural divide between Seif and the city dwellers, but being understood is nice too, you know? :p[/sblock]
he looks at Seif. "Very well, I'll take it to the girl, she surely can tell us about it's functions."
Seif hesitates, wanting to do that himself... but it is a fair price. He unsnapped the watch from his belt and extended it, drapped over his hand.

Knowing she had lost, Lady Rasputina grimaces and eyes Seif with utter contempt.
Definitivily *not* what he was shooting for.

Before departing, the Ottoman looks back at Seif. "Look out, this woman is more dangerous with her words than with her guns."
A small silence after the hatch closes... "If only it were so," he sighed, disapointed. Seif stood, minutely stretching his limbs, looking down on her in all sense of the word: "This is truly the best you can do? Your very best attempt at convincing?"

"You wanted to track us down the whole way, that's why they didn't attempt to rescue you yet."

"Or maybe my mission was to give witness to your treasonous actions." Rasputina stated with a hint of sarcasm.

"You aren't helping... I advise, Ottoman" [etc]

A impish grin formed on Rasputina's lips.

"Very well, I'll take it to the girl, she surely can tell us about it's functions."

"This is truly the best you can do? Your very best attempt at convincing?"

Lady Rasputina laughed as Sahid left the crawler's bed. "Being that convincing a wastelander, like yourself, of the wonders of our civilization is like teaching the blind the meaning of the color blue, the weapon I use is not that of persuasion."

Sahid emerges from the crawler's cargo bed as the caravan rumbled towards the remains of an ancient landslide that occurred at the canyon's mouth. The caravan immediately slowed its pace as each of the vehicles navigated around the many man-sized rocks that littered the canyon's floor.

After a few moments, the caravan finally passed through the canyon's southern wall and entered into a wide sloping valley bordered by two ridges on the east and west side that are dozens of miles apart. Throughout this valley are are a countless number of of rocky hillits and large rock outcroppings.

The patrol is no where to be seen, it appears as if they had crossed over the eastern ridge to search along that valley.

About 45 minutes has passed since you left Victoria Town's walls.

Brian nearly held his breath as the caravan bottlenecked at the landslide, then breathed easier as they entered a more open area. Still, he couldn't quite relax, and tried to focus his nerves on keeping an eye out for more patrols.

With a series of leaps, Sahid makes it to the Beast's Cockpit, and waves Rasputina's devices to the gear headed girl. "Excuse me my lady, I'll request a service from you. I want to knwo what is this devices for. We confiscated it from Rasputina. She claims it to be some sort of family gift. However I trust her as I would a Catholic." the Ottoman thought of his words. These people would certainly understand nothing of his past, of the time when he fought against the Europeans. "A rat" he added as an explanation.

OOC: Are there rats?
