M2: The Search for Goblin HQ

"The woman is known as 'J'. She's a sneaky one. Don't trust her a'tall. Small, quick-witted, long reddish blond hair. You folks 'd probably think she was pretty."

"I think I know exactly who you're talking about, and, er, meeting her, as Tor put it, is one of our goals. The only question is how to schedule this meeting for our convenience and not hers." Nurlan turns away from Thain and toward the rest of the group. "What do you all say?"

Thain's eyes light up at the idea of leaving. "I'll go get my things!...er...anyone want to come with me? My quarters are in the northern wing there. The other two humans are probably there too. They might have a better idea when the convoy might return. I have a hard time keeping track of that stuff. Could be any day now, I think. The thing is, that they only travel at night. They usually arrive early to midmorning. It's just dark now, so we have at least 8 hours, maybe 32 or more."

"Wait. At least 8 hours?" The cleric sighs. "I forgot you longer-lived people have a different concept of 'soon.' In that case, we can look for Irene for a few hours. We must leave before the convoy gets back, though. Don't worry Rinaldo, we're not abandoning her. We'll come back."

Charlarn speaks to Thain, "Do you trust these other humans? I don't want them to warn the goblins that we're here. If so, we'll all go. You'll need help carrying your things." And I don't want to get separated again. That's what got us into this mess in the first place.

"Much can be accomplished in a few hours. After all, it only took us a couple of minutes to rout the first wave of defenders."

Somac whispers to some of the others, "This Thain is not the brightest jewel in the mine, is he?"

Then, to himself, "I sure hope Irene is alright..."

edit: Charlarn spoke before I finished typing. All better now.

"Oh, the humans hate the goblins. They'll be very glad to see you. I'll lead you to out quarters. They'll probably be there."

Thain leads the party back the way they came, into the large room with the bloodstains. He enters that room carefully, and points to the door in the SE corner. It is dark now, presumably someone creates some light. (tell me)

"That is how to get to the dungeons."

He then continues up and turns West down the corridor, and opens a door, where two ragged humans huddle behind a cot.

"Hey - don't be afraid. These guys are here to rescue us! Er...what were your names again?"

Charlarn strikes a sunrod against the ground, causing the rod to glow. He holds it in his weapon (right) hand.

"My apologies, Thain. I'm Charlarn of Phyrah. Where are you from? We can try to get you back to your homes."

"I am Ashnar from the village Otun." Ashnar corrects his previous mistake of not introducing himself.
"Master Thain mentioned you might know better than he when the goblins convoy is expected to return?"

As they lead the smith out, Tenebrynn introduces himself. He is very keen on having a guide around the place and hopes this character is a little less duplicitous than Jezibel was. He hopes that they will find Irene soon as she didnt have much fun last time they were seperated. Through out the exchange and the tour of the rooms he keeps his eyes peeled for any movement, ready to shoot down any goblins that poke their heads out.

"Rinaldo di Senzio is my name. I used to be a spice merchant, but it looks like I'm finding myself new talents... I think about it now, does they feed you well? I have a fesw things to eat and drinks if you need some strength..."

"My name is Nurlan, and I sing." The bard thinks for a moment of demonstrating, then decides this is not the time.

OOC: As of tomorrow I am going into travel mode, otherwise known as "don't expect me to post, NPC my character as you see fit, although I may show up intermittently anyway." I think you have a feel for Nurlan -- he sings whenever it seems appropriate, whether for morale or diplomacy, he likes to disarm enemies in combat, is usually helpful, and whether he feels any empathy toward an NPC is pretty much determined by whether the character can enjoy a good song.
